Tina - How wonderful!  I'll check out the letters on your FB.

Katie's 6th grade teacher has sent her a package each year with cards/notes from the class and then some goodies.  Katie in return has sent them candy and such from Japan.

Well then, that was nothing new to you. I'm glad it's not as gross. Lol maybe it was called something different when your brother was in??? Anyway, did your sailor have fun with it? Hunter just said it wasn't all that bad, but then he doesn't complain a lot anyway. Where is home to you? We are in ohio.

Ohh ok..I know what it is now. Yeah it's tamed down ALOT. My brother is retired Navy and I don't even want to repeat all the gross stuff they used to make them do years ago!

I have learned a lot since sept! The WOG ceremony is one! Someone from here gave me some good advise to google it. It explains it better than I can. It's tamed down since early years. Hunter said he did know about it before hand. It's not really a bad thing-hope I'm not scaring you. There are some posts on here and a picture too, I believe.

LoL... yeah I hope that's a good thing too! My son does manage to call me at least once a week or so, even while underway, so that helps alot. What is WOG ceremony? :/

Hi USNavymom! It is neat all they've seen since sept-thats when hunter got there. I read somewhere that on this deployment lots of the newbies got a lot of whatever they had to have. So hoping that's a good thing. Haha. At least for the WOG ceremony, they'll be good at being on the other end for the rest of their time.

My son just boarded the USS Essex about a month and half ago now. I am amazed at all he's seen in the short time he's been onboard! He's brand new to the Navy so this is his first Christmas away from home. :(  I know he'll be ok with his new "family" but it's just not the same for us here.

Yes, marianne, it was bali. Hunter called this morning to wish his dad happy birthday and said that's where they were. Anyway, another welcomed "wake-up" call. Haha. He already received 1 CHRISTmas package! We wrapped some things and had a stocking in that box and he said he didn't look in the stocking or unwrap the presents yet. That sweetie! I told him he could open them if he wanted but maybe he wants to wait and have something to open on CHRISTmas morning. He had just got back from mcdonald's. I guess they have more time to themselves when they are at home port?????
Have a great day, all!
