Hey ladies.  Hope you all are doing well.  I've been reading your comments for the last few days and figured maybe I could shed some insight being I'm a wife and not a mother.  I've noticed many of you mention your sailor is grumpy or that you haven't heard from them.  I'm sure most of them entered the Navy thinking it would be an adventure (my husband included), which sometimes it is, but it's also a lot of work.  They just finished a major inspection which took a took a lot of work from everyone.  The ship received a new Co just before leaving.  There is always an adjustment period when this happens.  The new CO never does anything the same way as the old CO, he wants it to be his ship.  Also, nobody that I know of was very fond of the old CO.  He was a single man and volunteered them for every mission available.  What did he care?  He had no one to stay home for.  From what I have heard the XO knows the new CO and he's supposed to be a great guy.  Only time will tell.  As for this underway, I'm sure they aren't terribly happy about it, they figured they wouldn't have such a long underway for a while, since they just returned from deployment.  So there are just a few reasons as to why they could be grumpy.  They have made it to their first destination and have had a little down time.  So the moral should have been boosted a bit.

The page can only be updated by it's owner.  We can add to it and put pictures and stuff like that on it, but we can't make the changes I think you would like to.

I'm a member of that page on Facebook, but I think it's mostly past sailors that are on it.  I rarely see recent posts from current sailors or wives or family members.

Stashlyn, you can have your sailor add you to the FRG and ombudsman email list. The CO also sends out emails. You can be added to that list also. Events are planned or being planned and you will receive all that info.

You guys are missing your sons and I'm ready to shoot my husband!!..lol...just kidding. No he's actually driving me nuts. Our original plan when they were to come home on the original date was for him to arrive in VA, hop on a plan and come to Texas where we spend our summers. Now that the date has changed and his homecoming wouldn't ruin our normal summer routine I had decided to surprise him and be at the homecoming...all the while telling him he was still flying to Texas, which he wasn't looking forward to this time because of already being away from home for so long. Now he's telling me he is ok with coming to Texas, so do I surprise him at homecoming and run the risk of disappointing him because he isn't going to Texas or do I continue with the original plan? Decisions, decisions. Oh by the way my daughters and I had a great 4th. We're in Texas on Lake Texoma camping for two weeks. Hope everyone enjoyed their holiday weekend.

Welcome to the group! My husband has been on the FS for almost a year. We've been in Hampton Roads for 10 years. We live in Hampton, had to get away from the hustle and bustle of the southside. Let me know if you have any questions about the area.

JM, you haven't missed too much. I hear they are very busy, but what they are doing they cannot share with us. Normally deployments are a lot more eventful, more port visits and more pictures. I have received a few, but nowhere near the norm.
