Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Here is the specific link the USPS Priority Mail APO/FPO Flat Rate Boxes, choose a pack of 10 or 25 boxes and they will deliver them right to your house. The APO/FPO boxes are the large size so you'll have to order the regular priority mail boxes if you want medium or small. Also linked the needed customs forms that you can order at the same time. ALL ARE FREE. You can then use Click and Ship to ship it at a discount and you can even schedule the post office to pick the package up from your house.

Rikki, I was talking to my son and these are the restaurants he gave me. A lot of these are in the Ghent District. House of Smoke, No Frill Bar and Grill, Azteca, Chow, Tortilla West, and for breakfast 905 Cafe and Grill in Oceanview. Good coffee shop in Ghent is Fairgrounds Coffee Shop right across street from Starbucks. Coley Avenue is the main drag through Ghent. Tidewater will take you downtown to McArthur Mall really nice has a Nordstrum in it.

Laurie I have ashtray booked myself at the lodge which I am loving the no tax andi will have to try the seafood hubby really isn't keen on it but given we haven't seen each other for a while he might give in lol but thanks ladies for the advice

Rikki, dress warmly! Here is my best tip: an awesome seafood buffet...to die for really, and I'm pretty picky ... is Captain George's in Virginia Beach. Don't eat for a couple days...then go there! $22 pp and totally 100% worth it. Ignore the salad bar and just do the seafood and desserts :) !! All the crab legs, crab to pick, crab stuffed mushrooms, oysters Rockefeller, baked, fried, shrimp of all kinds, fish soups and stew..I could go on and on.
You could stay at the Navy Lodge (a quite nice and not expensive place to stay) or on Virginia Beach...the latter would be pretty but unless you hit a warm spell, cold. Rates better than in the summer, for sure!
That's my 2 cents worth, enjoy your trip!

Found a little mexican "hole in the wall" on the strip in Virginia Beach...funny thing about it, it had one of those quarter claw games where usually there's stuff animals in it. This one had live lobsters!!

Alright ladies so I am planning a trip to come and see my husband right after Christmas and need some ideas of things to do and places to go and places to eat. I was down there in the beginning of November but didn't stay for so long. Also is there anything going on with the ship at that time if anyone knows??? I need help LOL

Well hopefully it will be better for him... My husband is just that guy that EVERYTHING is harder for... I don't know why lol but he always struggles... He's not particularly smart or charismatic or social... And you ever identify need to be all those in the navy lil

I know the feeling... Unfortunately it had taken my husband 3 years to earn/demand respect.... Is your son right out of A school?? It's hard for the lower rank guys for sure... My hubs is only e4 but it's definately better than e3 lol

He's a structural guy assigned to a blackhawk but being used to wash dishes. That was his home chore so I understand his frustration but my feeling is if he were treated with respect it wouldn't be an issue. He is a team player. Hopefully he shared the christmas package-or hell be too fat to get out if his bunk!
