An MH-60S Sea Hawk helicopter to the "Black Knights" of Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron (HSC) 4 prepares to land on the on the flight deck of the aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). Washington was participating in UNITAS 2015. UNITAS, the U.S. Navy's longest running annual multinational maritime exercise, is part of the Southern Seas deployment planned by U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet. I have had only good experience with the GW Ombudsman . I think they should be getting to port soon!

Comment by sethsmom on November 19, 2015 at 9:59am
Jh4jh, sorry you had same experience but glad we weren't the only one. Thot maybe I did something wrong. Confirms I won't contact ombudsman. I don't want to do anything to hear from him less than already do.

Can anyone help with homecoming info? Dates and to get on list to get on base? I tried contacting the family readiness group with no response.

That's terrible! My sailors been on 3 carriers and 2 squadrons, we've had nothing but positive responses and information from the ombudsman....even with planning family day on the carrier, deployment prep, homecoming and international vacation planning.....that's their job...:((

Comment by JH4JH on November 18, 2015 at 9:26pm
Sethsmom, same thing happened to me. I emailed the ombudsman with a simple question and he was called in by his chief and yelled at for 20 minutes.

Beach Bunny:  Can I friend you so we can discuss the date of the homecoming.  I asked my sailor if we were on the list so we can get on the pier but he didn't know.....when will we know a definitely date that they will be coming and time?

Comment by sethsmom on November 18, 2015 at 1:20pm
Ok....I will try them. If he gets called in the office again he probably won't ever contact me again. It's been a very long 3.5 years.

Really that's what they are for...

The Navy Family Ombudsman is a military spouse who has acquired and demonstrated the skills and knowledge to successfully navigate the Navy lifestyle, and in turn, volunteer to help others do the same.

·         An ombudsman is a valuable resource of information and a point of contact for Navy families. The Ombudsman's major role is a bridge between the command, its family members, and community resources. Your ombudsman acts as a two-way communicator, a referral agent, and interpersonal helper for all family members of your command.
·         The Ombudsman program allows the Service member to be more focused and productive at work because their families have a safety net.
·         A Command Ombudsman is a part of the Command Support Team (CST) which includes Commanding Officer (CO), Executive Officer (XO), Command Master Chief (CMC), Chaplains and spouses, who care for the welfare of other Navy families.
