Good Morn GW Group...
joshmom, glad you popped in...:)hummm heard the change of command has been a challenge for many...
Brooke, that's exciting...one step closer to seeing your husband. It's the Navy schedule change all the time, wish there was a true answer. You may want to PM a few of the others on this group to confirm the date you have.
Hello ladies! I've been MIA for a little while and really miss you! My hectic lifestyle has got to slow down!!!
A little update: got a phone call from my sailor back when they pulled into port but unfortunately he wasn't his usual happy-go-lucky self. He told me that him and his buddy were informed that if they did not pass their surface warfare boards by the end of October their last 4 years in the Navy would mean nothing. He says it was due to the change of command ("things are different now mom") I didn't question him on it (he was bummed enough as it was and I didn't want to waste the phone call questioning him) so I just encouraged him. Got an email a week later: "hey mom me and (his buddy) both passed our boards in 12 days with 2 days left to spare!" I still don't know what the circumstances were surrounding this. He had gotten his air warfare pin quite a while back so I don't know if he just screwed up by not getting the surface pin too or if it really had to do with the change of command. Who knows! I'll quiz him when he's home and get the whole story. Good news he's done, he's qualified and all is fine again! I think back to that phone call and figure he was probably more bummed that he was stuck studying and wasn't able to get off the ship to get a good meal and beer!
BeachBunny - thanks for the info and all the pics! Love that last one with the snow in the background. Me & sailor were emailing just a few days ago and when he told me where they were I said "oh try to get pics if you can, I bet the scenery is really pretty" He responded back "can't see a thing mom, the hangar bay doors are closed to keep the waves from coming in. We're hitting 20-30 ft swells, the ship is rocking and that's saying a lot for a carrier!" Don't know if that pic was taken before or after I heard from my son but sure was nice to see those calms seas!
Brooke - this is my first homecoming so I'm not sure if those on duty can get off the ship or not. Normally I don't think they can. Keeping my fingers crossed your husband doesn't have duty.
Cheryl D. - I've heard that our names will have to be on a list to get onto the pier. Keep in touch with your sailor.
Take care ladies. I'll try not to go MIA again!
Good Monday GW group....
Looks like the last package I sent is there, hummm wonder if my sailor got it yet...sent another one last week....hummm what will he say about the TP I sent...lol
Check out this photo from the carrier of the Sec of the Navy and crew at the Strait of Magellan a couple of days ago...oh, my it looks cold, check out snow on the mountains and they are all bundled up....
Good day GW group....well my computer keeps eating my post toady...ggrrrrrr
Here's information on homecoming from a Navy wife:http://happyfitnavywife.com/navy-ship-homecoming-pier
Picture of HC in SD when the CVN70 came in after 10 months, sailors get to disembark by rate after the new Dads...note the big crowd of people, this was a tiger cruise returning after a 10 month deployment, and squadrons already popped off and headed back to their bases, unless sailors were on the tiger cruise.
can anyone help me? I'd like to meet my sailor when she docks in Norfolk. how do I get on the pier? Do I need clearance before the boat gets there? what do need to do?
oh crumb, thought I edited those pictures smaller...sorry some are mega big....:)

Capt. Timothy Kuehhas, commanding officer of aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) participates in a flight deck fun run. Washington is deployed as a part of Southern Seas 2015.....hummm don't my sailor, he wears an in and out burger shirt to workout in...lol
151012-N-RG522-037 PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 12, 2015)Aviation Ordnanceman Airman fires a shot line from aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) during a refueling at sea. Washington is deployed around South America
Good Morn GW group......
My sailor usually loses some weight on deployment but he's lost the most on this one, thinking his metabolism reset from a flu bug he had at the beginning of this cruise....it's normal to lose some weight...they are busy and have to get to the galley during operating hours which is hard for some work shifts.
Also on phone calls, some won't call home bc "hearing" your voice makes them home sick. I was at the RDC in GL looking for my sailor, chief told me to look in the phone bay he maybe calling me. When I walked in the room, it was empty but 1 SR he was crying. I asked him if he was ok, he said he was until he heard his Moms voice then he hung up. We chatted then I hugged him...some of you have sailors on their first deployment, email maybe easier for them.....:)
Mine said no wine as a gift, bummer I wanted a bottle of Chile wine, said storage was too much $. He'll go to BevMo after deployment and get me 6 bottles instead....he said he was going to a flea market on the beach, told him I like earrings too...lol...really he picked up some nice jewelry on the last deployment cheap...hummmm Christmas is around the corner....just saying, hoho....
Am going to post some actions shots from around the boat for the members here that don't have a FB page, as there's new pictures on the ships page....
