I've noticed that on this cruise communication has been limited, this is the 3rd deployment for my sailor on the 3rd carrier...yup he gets around...lol...even when in the gulf in a war zone there was more communication from the ship, including the ship staff thru the captain (weekly newsletter) and media dept( weekly hands on deck video and shout outs) plus sailors connecting home more thru phone calls on the boat and email....hummm maybe their having problems with connections or with the hull swap not fully staffed (just a guest)...well, on the positive side packages are getting there pretty quickly, seems with the new address format packages are leaving the sorting center faster too....packing another box.

Thanks for all the responses. I know how it goes and understand it will be spotty and few and far between, I'm just looking for a means to contact him. I have nothing. He is AO, so I need that box # if anyone knows? I've tried changing the CVN# from his last email and same format as on the RR but didn't work. I realize there will be little communication, but little is far better than none! :)

Hi Momof 5 and everyone else. It is hard when we worry but are not in contact. Private messaging seems to work for our family the best as phone is not accessible and computer access is spoty. Thanks to everyone for the support provided through this site

The only time that I really get a phone call from my sailor is when they are in port....there is no cell phone reception and very little internet while out to sea...I will once in a while get a quick FB message or two...but most of the time we wait until they are in port.... :(

What is his job....if he is AS I can give you the Box number for that.....

51020-N-YB023-010 PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 20, 2015) U.S. Naval aircraft and Chilean Air Force aircraft fly in formation adjacent to aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). UNITAS 2015, the U.S. Navy's longest running annual multinational maritime exercise, is part of the Southern Seas deployment planned by U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet. This 56th iteration of UNITAS is conducted in two phases: UNITAS Pacific, hosted by Chile, October 13-24, 2015 and UNITAS Atlantic, hosted by Brazil scheduled for November. (U.S. Navy photo by Mass Communication /Released)

51019-N-EH855-149 PACIFIC OCEAN (Oct. 19, 2015) Sailors wrap the waist catapult on the flight deck of aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73). UNITAS 2015, the U.S. Navy's longest running annual multinational maritime exercise, is part of the Southern Seas deployment planned by U.S. Naval Forces Southern Command/U.S. 4th Fleet.

Love pictures of what they r doing...isn't the stream from the catapult cool, it's loud when the birds launch...if your sailors berthing room (bunk) is under the catapult it's really warm when they are launching...now you can see why...lol

Momof5..this was on the USS GW FB page: GW Friends and Family, As of May 1, 2015, the USPS Mailing Address for your favorite Sailor has the following format:

(RATE/RANK) LAST NAME, FIRST

USS GEORGE WASHINGTON (CVN 73)

UNIT 100148 BOX ### (need the box number)
