(HUGS) djk's Mom....
I email mine every week...even if he doesn't reply...send him football scores too.....I didn't heard from mine until this weekend since the first week when I got his address...got a short email reply yesterday...How's my truck?...oh boys and their toys....
Did you see the FB pictures....they had a storm last night:
150922-N-WO404-034 PACIFIC OCEAN (Sept. 22, 2015) Aircraft carrier USS George Washington (CVN 73) encounters a late-night storm as it steams toward South America. Washington is preparing to deploy around South America as a part of Southern Seas 2015. The eighth deployment of it’s kind, Southern Seas 2015 seeks to enhance interoperability, increase regional stability, and build and maintain regional relationships with countries throughout the region through joint, multinational and interagency exchanges and cooperation. have not heard from my Sailor since they left San Diego and getting a little crazed.. Stomach turned upside down. Just need a "HEY MOM' that's all!
Sorry, I was just sharing action shots of how mail is delivered to a carrier, I got them off the other carrier that my sailor just got off of...the media dept there was awesome, every couples days they downloaded pictures, action shoots and they "sailor" of the day plus the Captain wrote a "Captains Corner" almost every week....really was great to see what was going on, well, at least what they can show...:)
Packages, even for Marines go to a sorting center in Chicago..the tracking infromation will show Chicago until packages are scan on the carrier...oh, I didn't post a picture of how they get to the carrier....I'll look for one.....
Oh my goodness...that's a lot of mail!! I just send mine last Monday, I'm thinking it may not have arrived yet. Need to track it but seems like its been stuck in Chicago for the last few days.
Happy Monday GW Group....
I didn't hear from my sailor for almost 2 weeks, but got 2 emails this weekend, got a shorter email: cool....told him I shipped him a package....I joked hope it gets there and I wrote the right box number...first package I've seen under the Navy underway address format...no problem at the post office the system expected the address, not like the old address format, post master had to override it a couple of times....now we'll see how long it takes to get there....
I use the flat rate priority boxes so I don't have to worry about weight, plus it's a $2 discount going to a FPO AP address. When I've used the FPO AP box depends on the weight it can cost more $$. Double check the box, I went to mail a package too much, got another box went home repacked it to save a lot of money. Now I keep supplies onhand, I have a shelf in the garage with boxes, custom forms and tape, makes it easy to ship items...use lots of tape as the boxes get abused going to the carrier, I tape every edge and corner with themed duct tape, the one I mailed the other day had ghost duct tape, the next one will have mac & cheese print tape...lol...picture says a thousand words, in this pictures the carrier got 200 pallets of mail, took a couple days to sort thru it all, so if you track a package and it says delivered that means it was scanned on the carrier, confirm with your sailor that they got it:
