Moose :-( :-( Been there, done that also. Now I can kind of recognize those calls, even though they are few and far between.
ginnlylynn, Kelcie said that the lines were really long while they were in the Philipines because they couldn't actually pull in to port, they anchored several miles out.
Carolina....Kelcie also got sunburned. She's a brunette, but light complected and freckle faced, but like you......she said it was worth it, to have some fun!!

Sandra, Kelcie said a few months ago that she got to go up on the bridge for something, and how cool it was!! 14 years, wow. Has he been on the GW all this time? How nice that he avoided the rain showers for the crew!!
Sue, I think Kelcie is safe from "cranking" rotation. Whenever our hospital does a BBQ or breakfast for employees (about 1200) administration and supervisors do all the cooking and clean up. It would be nice if the command did the same for our sailors so that they could ALL enjoy it.

Thanks so much ladies, it IS exciting to see her "in action" (having fun, instead of toting around some big weapon). I'm keeping my fingers crossed that before the cruise is over you all also get to see your sailor on the FB page!!
Janis, that's Kelcie's boyfriend right in front of her with the camo hat on. I'm sure that the prospect of spending a little more time with him helped motivate her to get by with only 5 hours of sleep :-)

I asked my daughter if she went to it. She said she cooked for the picnic, but they did let her have some time off afterward. She ended up going back to her bunk to read a little more of the book I had sent her, then fell asleep. Typical.

I'll have to check out those photos a bit better. I only got to quickly glance at them the first time (was leaving). I do remember the pic of the baby pool though, lol. They looked like they had fun.

Happy BD, Moose.

Oh, and about those 'rack packs'. She asked and they told her, and I quote; 'It’s considered gear adrift to have things hanging around your rack. The reason is safety, if the ship is to rock, the things in those pockets will fly out and hit me or other people.' End quote.

THERE SHE IS :>) :>) My sailor, in the 1st group of 13 pictures of the Steel Beach Party. Photo #1. The female in the pool without the sunglasses. Her boyfriend is sitting in front of her (with the camo hat). Nah.......I'm not excited :>)

Haard from Kelcie that our sailors are having a "Steel Beach Party" aboard tomorrow. Glad to hear that they are having the chance for some fun and relaxation. She says it is VERY needed :>)

:>) I like that Janis! Kelcie has also said that it is quite a "feather in your cap" to get. I'll never "get" all the acronym's and abreviations of the Navy. It's a language of their own.

My daughter is cramming for the same exam (I mentioned something about it a couple of pages back). She calls it 'a fancy chest candy pin.' Lol She said it looks good on their record.

Janis.....yep, boyfriends have a way of making their days much brighter, and when they are happy, we are happy :>) As hard as it is to see at the time, sometimes things actually do happen for the best. Hope it all works out that way for her. It's nice to have someone in your corner, but I think our girls tend to be so self conscious about their weight in this day and age that to know that ANY male is privvy to that info is embarassing to them. Glad she is getting some of her courses out of the way while the ship is out. Kelcie hasn't really moved in that direction. She is busy trying to get her "surface warfare" pin. Whatever that is.
