OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Postal Note
as long as mail is routed through Australia (whichever is longest), no food, seeds, nuts, fruit, wood products, plants, or plant products are allowed to be mailed to or from the ship, as they pose a potential risk to Australia.

We have an agreement with the Australian Government to ensure no such items will transport through their country. This is especially important because some of these prohibited items are easily obtainable on-board.

When mail routing discontinues through Australia a notice will be sent out that we are back to normal operations.

Please remind your friends, family and dependents who normally utilize the U. S. Postal System during this period.

Ringtone...I'm not going to debate what was being printed here with you. I was just saying I appreciated what was posted. I've been at this a long time with two in the Navy.

Sandra.....Thanks for all your informational postings you have made. I understand that what you have posted is elsewhere and will miss the information you provided. Also...thanks for the explanation on how to get Google Alerts to the email. Great directions. Even "I" could follow it! LOL

Hi Moms, not to be a downer but I have now purchased 2 RackPacks for my son and they have both grown legs and disappeared. Pretty sad especially when the company itself embroiders your sailors last name onto them.. WARN your sailors. RackPacks are quite the commodity.

SANDY...What an awesome job on the T-shirts. Sorry I failed to participate. You Moms wear those t-shirts proudly.

Hello!

As I've received a few reports of OPSEC violations in this group, I've posted a portion of our Community Guidelines regarding this issue above. Hopefully this well help guide you as you discuss your Sailors and the USS George Washington. :)

We got our second call this morning. My stepson uses his computer to call our computer using SKYPE. We get to "SEE" his smiling face and the new tatoo he had gotten a bit ago. He loves where they are. House rented on the beach is awesome. Does not want to leave. Using SKYPE is free and we do love being able to see him.

YAY...SKYPE came thru again. Talked and saw Michael early this morning. They rented a house on the beach. Going to take the wine tour and the outdoor adventure tour. Looked good, sounded good.
