LYNDA...I use SKYPE all the time with my two sailors. Michael is in Japan. Jimmy is on the East Coast or cruising underwater (sub). Our computer is in the one bedroom and we just have the speakers turned all the way up. Most of the time we hear it just fine. My daughter-in-law to be has SKYPE forwarded to her cell phone and when I tried to use it (one time only) I needed to set up an acct with my VISA. I disconnected at that time. So...If your daughter was to call you she would need to have placed money in advance. Sometimes we miss a call but it shows and I check often but with Japan time it is mostly in the morning. We love SKYPE and would not be without it. Oh..you can take there picture too while talking and they don't even know it! LOL Setting up grandparents next time we are there. Don't have a Magic Jack. Can't help there.

KAT...what a relief his leave was approved. I'm missing Michael. That time he was in the STates went by too fast!

Hey all. My step-son Michael left today to go back to GW. He had been back in the States (California and Virginia) for about a month. Had a great visit with him. It sure was hard to see him off at San Francisco airport. Hope that sailor (sorry...forgot his name) got his Chit approved to come home and that everyone else has heard from their's.

Hello everyone. Have not been on for a while. Just wanted to share that Michael is coming home tomorrow for a month! He is here for a week, then going to Virginia for 2 weeks, and back home for a week. Can't wait to see him. Hope everyone is keeping in touch with their sailors. I'm envious of Laurie seeing Japan! Have a great time.

Lilly...enjoy that time with your soon. We are looking forward to Michael coming home on Feb 16th.

I'm with Laurie...Key Lime pie is my favorite. Save those trees Leah.

Ginger ... lik Kat said your son will get in the groove. Michael is also living on the boat but goes to the Rec Center and another sailor's room in the barracks. He has not complained but you know men...keep things to themselves. He will do fine.

Glad you all enjoyed the blog. The author is the wife of an officer on the George Washington. If you get the chance look at some of the older posts on the right side. When the ship first arrived in Japan she posted arrival pictures, which I really appreciated, not being there. I never knew KitKat candy bars came in so many flavors. Love that site, need to make written notes of sites she has visited so when we go I can suggest to my step-son where I want to go.

Hello all. For anyone planning to visit their sailor in Japan you really should check out the blog I posted about earlier. Not trying to push it on anyone but I just love it. Today's topic: Toilets in Japan. Makes you stop and think ... WOW ... just wanted to do my business and so many types. Anywho...just made me chuckle. It is ,,, www.passthechopsticks.blogspot.com

Laurie..I'd like to pass along a blog I have been reading. The lady is married to an officer on the George Washington. She has been posting about her travels in the area and posting pictures of a lot of places to visit. You might want to take a look at it. I know I have found it very interesting. To the right side is links to older posts. It is "passthechopsticks.blogspot.com.
