Kelly - my son  got to come home too and yep those were two wonderful weeks but way to short!

According to my son and what I've read the GW is scheduled for Virginia.  2015 should be an exciting year!  My son doesn't know yet if he'll get to stay with the ship all the way to Virginia but he sure would like to.  I'm anxious to find out where the hull swap will take place.  I've already told my husband we will be taking vacation next year...I want to see my sailor and the ship!

Hello to all. It's been pretty quiet here since the Christmas . My son came home for 2 weeks this winter, it was amazing for all of his family to see him and sad to see him go again.... Such is the life of a Navy Mom... I was wondering if anyone has heard from their sailor of the plans for the GW after their pacific cruise? Is Virginia still going to happen? If you have any thoughts I'd love to hear them....

Hey everyone, I just wanted to stop in and say hello.  Haven't been on here in quite awhile.  Hope all of you and your sailors are doing well.  Anyone's sailor ready to head back out to sea - mine sure is!  I'm so fortunate that my son is enjoying the Navy life.  Every time he calls he is always so happy - does my heart good!

Take care everyone and Happy Friday to you all!

Someone was asking for the Ombudsman for the GW. This is what I found and have used the email to handle some issues in the past. Hope this helps.

Tell N4M to change it's format back! I hate this. I don't post often but I do read comments. This format makes that harder.

Congrats to having your Son home Jenny's mom, My Son had the same issue when he went back to great lakes in Jan , his cab wasnt at the airport, took a bus to the train & got off at GL 4 hours later, lol enjoy having him home

My son got home on Monday for his leave.  He bought his ticket from United Airlines and it was $1050.  We were pleased with the price considering how high the tickets were priced over the holidays.  He did end up having to take the train into the Narita airport because something was going on with the bus leaving from base and it was taking a terribly long time to get people to the airport that day.  With his limited Japanese and the helpfulness of people he said he had no trouble getting to the airport.  Now he is home and having a blast!!
