my grandson was on the germantown and is now on harper ferry. stationed in San Diego.  He was in Japan..sasebo..It sometimes took 2 to 3 weeks for mail..and I had sent him a phone card that did not work too...I was told that they need to buy a card in japan, so it will be sure to work..he needs to  ask someone in Sasebo the routing numbers to use to call home with the card he has.

hi all, my son just called and said that his stuff still hasn't made it to the ship and that has been at least 2 weeks already. he only kept one outfit with him so now he is walking around with the same clothes on. so he wants me to send his stuff to him that we have here but I am worried it won't get to him in time if the ship leaves port. how long does it take to send things to japan? also he said the prepaid phone he bought isn't working, boy it is hard to be this far away. any advice would be helpful, thanks angela

My sailor emailed that the base is nice, and it has all the comforts of America.
Downtown Sasebo is pretty awesome.  Great news!

nicksmum,

Thank you! My sailor arrived in Tokyo during the night & is on his way to Sasebo. I hope that he meets up with your sailor. Mine is a IT rate.  It is wonderful having all of you to chat with through this journey.
