was just on facebook looking for the uss germantown and came upon their fb page, there is a discussion page which doesn't make the germantown sound so great. Many comments about low morale, my son Nick leaves aug 9th and I wish I hadn't read all these negative comments. Please tell me some positive stuff that your sailors have let you know about the ship. I know my son is really excited to get to his duty station and I don't want him to be disappointed, I also know the saying that it is what you make it, but I am a mom and want only the best for him. thanks, angela

My sailor called home yesterday.  He will leave for USS Germantown end of August. My next vacation will be Sasebo! We still do not know his travel information for coming home from A school.  It also could be after graduation. I will be so happy to  see my sailor.

Nicksmum

I am not sure how long they will be in Australia, but I am thinking he will probably just stay at base in Sasebo till they return. I have not heard a peep out of my son now for 4 weeks, but when they are "out" that is not unusual I have learned. I think he will like it there, my son sure does. He had never been away from home other than boot camp and now he has traveled more in 6 months than most people do in their lifetime!
