The cookbook is to raise funds for the next homecoming...the FRG provides meals for the families of all the sailors pulling duty on homecoming (so that all the families can eat together)....talk to your sailor about the friends and familly day cruise...it is set for the middle of August. the ship goes out in the early morning and comes back in that evening....not a night out on the ship, just a day of fun :)

Please send in ALL the recipes that you love!! We can use them all :) Just make sure that you include your name and hometown as well as your sailor's name and of course a small story about the dish (why it is special, where you got it, etc.) NB: That recipe story can be only 375 characters or fewer in length. (recipes without stories are still welcome!!!! It just is really cool to have all the stories to make the book special!) Thanks!

Greetings,

I am currently one of the USS Gridley's ombudsmen. I'm excited to see you all have found another area for Gridley families to support one another! Support is ALWAYS important in our way of life!!! While this avenue of communication is great please don't overlook our traditional areas such as the FRG (Family Readiness Group) meetings, events and newsletter and our Ombudsmen, ombudsmen newsletter and remember we volunteer out time and are standing by around the clock to assist and provide big Navy resources.
To "ThanksMom" I need to take this moment to clerify that when your sailor checks on board he/she has the the option to fill out a form and provide the command your contact information and in turn the command then provides us with that form. Once that form is recieved we as ombudsmen must follow stringent guidelines in who and how we contact family members. If your sailor did indeed give us your contact information it could be a very simple fix in getting you the information we provide. Please e-mail us @ ussgridley@gmail.com providing us with your sailors name, your e-mail, & telephone number, so we can assist you further in getting you on our e-mail list.
Wendy: Our command is working on getting informaiton regarding the Seal Beach tours out through official channels. Please don't hesitate to use your sailor as a resource as they are the ones closest to the source and most likely to be in the know.
I would send out a BZ to "A Sailors Mom"....you did a phenominal job in covering what an ombudsman does. The Gridley Ombudsmen say "Thank you" for the time you took; it was thuroughly informative!

As always we are standing by ready to serve you and your families....Please don't hesitate to contact us!

For ship specific events in June: The FRG will be having a regular meeting soon to discuss very timely activities for Father's Day as well as additional summer plans. Please contact the FRG at gridleyfrg@gmail.com for date/time details if you are in the area. Also know, that even if you are not in the area, your sailor is always welcome at FRG events in order to keep you informed. Due to OPSEC, very little can be sent via the internet so please use the FRG and your sailor as ways to stay informed.
