I'm still looking for anything on YouTube - haven't found anything current yet, but i'll keep checking!
More from the Virginian Pilot: scroll down in the article & you will see a video.
We are live at Pier 14 of Naval Station Norfolk for the USS
Truman homecoming following its record-setting 8-month deployment.

From the Virginian Pilot:
Did you know sailors aboard the USS Truman transmitted more than 6,000,000 emails? Here are 11 facts about the deployment.

Sea*mom - oh man that sucks for your son :( Just let him know that the right girl is still out there for him. I know it doesn't help his broken heart right now but in time he will feel better. Better to find out now that it wasn't going to work than later when they had more invested in the relationship. My son had a breakup with a long-time (6yr) GF when he first joined the Navy - took him a long while to heal his heart and to be willing to open up & love someone again, but he has found a gal that really makes him happy (and she was Navy too!). It can happen....
JGMom - woohoo! Glad you heard from you sailor and all is well. Hope you get that visit soon <3
Jacobmom - i'll take a look around and see what I can find and post! Have fun visiting in VA! Try to stay cool lol!
Sorry Sea'mom that must be heartbreaking for him and your family.
Sending best wishes to all the families who were able to attend today. My sailor finally called. He is very happy to be back on base and we are figuring a time for him to come home for a visit.
You would think with all the advanced IT they have they could/would live stream but I learned my lesson with PIR which I couldn't watch either.
As it is my sailor got to come back two weeks early. But after moving his girl cross country the beginning of last summer he returned to a Dear John situation (engagement ring back in the box, to say nothing of the credit card debt, broke down car, and semi-empty apt.)
We are all devastated.
I was disappointed that they didn't have the live stream on the entire time. I haven't heard from my sailor which is unusual for him. Hope he is okay. Do they stay on the ship until they have new barracks assigned? Not sure what happens next.
Wish I was there. Looks like a wonderful time for family and friends.
Pitbullboys I am so so sorry that you didn't get to see your sailor :( I'm sending you a big hug - not that that is any consolation, but know that I am thinking of you....I hope you can connect with your sailor soon. Try not to cry momma.
I just don't know why the Navy didn't have it live streaming. I know there are a lot of unhappy people right now. I was glad I was able to see what I could on the Virginian Pilot - I just wish they would have stayed with it longer.....my son was able to make it to the pier & he sent me a couple of pictures. He was happy to see his shipmates come home.
Enjoy your visit Jacobmom!
