OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Hi all - Happy Monday!
Bernapet - it does seem confusing - on the one hand we are told to not say anything about ship movement but then the press will release information about where the ship is, how long they are going to be there, etc.
Like GrandmaBarB said, once it's released to the public it can be discussed. We can discuss it after the fact....just don't say anything related to ship movement before it happens.....Better safe than sorry! Besides, it's not like you can hide an aircraft carrier - pretty obvious when it pulls in to a port and countries are usually excited for their visit!

It is confusing to me. We are suppose to be hush hush, then I see a article on where we are, etc. I think I'm missing something here. GrandmaB, I understand what you are saying, but it still confuses me.

Any information found in the public domain has been released by the Navy and the Government. It is public information.
OPSEC refers to 'inside' information received from our sailors or others via private communications. Sailors shouldn't share it with family...and family, if they get it, shouldn't share it with anyone.

Just a reminder, Loose Lips Sink Ships! Navy released material is safe. I love knowing where my sailor is, but his safety over my interest, is paramont for me.

Had to share...I just got an email from a sailor who got one of my Christmas gift bags! I didn't think they would already give them out, but it made my night!! I actually just got done putting up the tree for the first time in 19 years without my little guy helping me, so it was a bit sad...then I got the email. What a blessing! :-)
