Thank you for the warm welcome Paige. My son is in C school right now as a Gunner's Mate and hopes he will finish by the time the ship deploys again.

Paige - thanks so much for posting this - it is wonderful!  My daughter and I were lucky enough to fly from PA and be on the pier for my son's first homecoming!  It was amazing!

I talked with my daughter last night (1 am) but it is always worth it whatever time it is.  She sounded great and excited for where she was going to see next.  My daughter the world traveler, shes having a great time and I am here worried about her.  LOL  Thats my job.  I hope everyone got a phone call in the past 24 hours and feels happy like I do.

Happy Mothers Day to all who are lucky enough to be a mom!!  Well I actually got to talk to Kaela at midnight my time.  We had some bad news from home and they allowed her to call me.  Its terrible hearing her cry and I can't give her a hug.  But by the time she got off the phone she was better and we were talking about my other daughter who is pregnant and how much things are changing and we were laughing.  I did not go through the RedCross because the bad news was not a immediate family member althought he is like a father to my kids.  What is the right thing to do when something needs to be told to the sailor at sea?  Please if anyone can tell me I would appreciate it.  Talk to you later and everyone hug your kids today!

Welcome aboard Jennifer!  I have not heard from my daughter since Hawaii and I don't know if she got her first package and its almost time for me to send another.  I want to send one once a month, something for her to look forward to.  I can't wait to hear her voice, hopefully soon.  They have new pictures on facebook everyone.  I hope someone sees their sailor, I have'nt seen Kaela but she is still cranken!  LOL

HI Jennifer - welcome to the Howard family! You  may also want to check out the Howard's facebook page - they post photos often - it is wonderful!  this group is a nice connection to other families as well.  Ask your son to give your contact information (email) to the ombudsman so you can get emails.  Cathy

New pictures on their facebook page from Easter Sunday!  My daughter emailed me Monday telling me shes had enough fun already I guess the water is rough on her hair.  I think what a deployment does is also give them an awful lot of time to miss home, to much time to think and so I felt she was very home sick on this email.  She left saying she would never come back to WPB, Fl but now she tells me how much she loves and misses everyone.  I always tell her be careful what you wish for!  lol  She will be ok, I emailed her back telling her that we are just here waiting for her to come home when she is done.
