Remember that per the Ombudsman Team - in spite of the published news, OPSEC on social media still rules! :)
The Associated Press
NORFOLK, Va. — The Navy says about 6,300 sailors on ships with the Eisenhower carrier strike group and the Iwo Jima amphibious ready group will return to Hampton Roads this upcoming week.
The Virginian-Pilot of Norfolk reported that sailors are to arrive a few days early to beat possible bad weather.
The dock landing ship Gunston Hall will be the first to arrive at Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek, on Tuesday. The other ships in the amphibious group, the amphibious assault ship Iwo Jima and the amphibious transport dock New York, will return to Naval Station Norfolk on Thursday.
The aircraft carrier Eisenhower will arrive at Naval Station Norfolk, preceded by its carrier air wing, which returns to Naval Air Station Oceana on Tuesday.
It's the public announcement of the homecoming arrival date of the Iwo ARG - the Iwo, USS New York, and USS Gunston Hall.
Oh, I got the date in an email a week ago from Ombudsman. Maybe this is the official one?
Arrival of date of what Marcy?
Per U.S. Navy Fleet Forces Command, the arrival date will be announced tomorrow!!!!
Hopefully the thoughts of being home soon will help the sufferers - :)
Here's an story from wavy.com (ch. 13) today - so great to see it in the news! http://www.wvec.com/news/Iwo-Jima-ARG-will-be-home-for-the-holidays... What a homecoming THIS one is going to be! Wish I could be there Trisha, you'll have to post pics for us!
This is from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth on Facebook today...think any of the new daddies are on the Iwo, USS New York, and USS Gunston Hall? :)
OH, BABY! Friday was a banner day in the Labor and Delivery Department with 22 deliveries, more than twice the usual number of births in a day! There were 13 natural births and nine babies delivered by caesarian section. Six extra staff members were called in, and others worked well past their typical working hours to take care of the moms and babies. Additional assistance came from the OR (which performed three of the C-sections), Ward 4E - complicated OB (which performed non-stress tests), the PACU (which provided recovery rooms) and 4KL - post partum (which was ready to accept the mothers). BZ to all who chipped in to help all the babies enter the world!
marine_navymom, that Iwo Jima spirit spot was perfect!!! Love seeing the big 7 :) Thanks for sharing; brings a smile too thinking of the fun they must have had with putting it together. I got home in time to tune in the game in the fourth quarter, holy cow the drama and what a win, they did it again!!
