Anyone want to see the group picture my son sent me of the ET's on the Iwo Jima?  He has been pretty good about NOT being in any picture for the past many months.

Happy Military Family Month, Iwo families!  From yesterday's Navy Times:

President Obama signed a proclamation Thursday designating November as Military Family Month and calling on Americans to honor military families through private actions and public service.

"In our military families, we see the best our country has to offer," he wrote.

He described the challenges military families face on a regular basis with regular moves and deployments, and highlighted their strength. “With loved ones serving far from home, military spouses take on the work of two. Their children show courage and resilience as they move from base to base, school to school, home to home.

“And even through the strain of deployment, military families strengthen the fabric of each community they touch and enrich our national life as shining examples of patriotism."

BREAKING: Navy sets Tropical Cyclone Condition Three for Hampton Roads installations

Norfolk, VA (CNRMA) - As a precautionary measure the Navy today ordered all installations in the Hampton Roads area to set Tropical Cyclone Condition Three as Hurricane Sandy is forecast to impact the Mid-Atlantic coast. Tropical Cyclone Condition Three means destructive winds of greater than 50 knots associated with a tropical system, are expected within 48 hours.

Rear Admiral Tim Alexander, Commander Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, issued the order at noon today.
Some preparations include securing all hazards throughout the installations and removing debris from drainage areas.
Navy personnel and their families are encouraged to review their hurricane checklists and evacuation plans to prepare for the storm.

Keeping an eye on Hurricane Sandy and preparations in Norfolk ... "The weather system could bring heavy rain, possible flooding and gale force winds to Virginia Beach and Southside Hampton Roads this weekend."  Navy in Virginia makes preparations for Hurricane Sandy
