For anyone with interest in the TC, be sure your sailor communicates that to his/her chain of command, too :)

Tricia, when I was to go on the TC in '10, the weather was judged too rough for us to go out to the ship on the LCACs, so we (300+ friends and family members of sailors on the Iwo) had to turn around and return to Norfolk on the buses :(  I was sooo sad, but being on the pier the next morning and experiencing the homecoming that way was awesome, too!

Julie, go here:  http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100001529013591 and make a friend request, giving sailor's name and your relationship.  There is an email address and phone number in the Discussion above about the Ombudsman Team and FRG.

Donnermcc - Same thing, the info for joining the FRG is in that Discussion.

FRG is the Family Readiness Group. I get FRG information, but I am not a member of the Ombudsman. How do you do that?

marine_navymom is right; keeps "romance" OFF the ship.   Having been to homecoming at the pier, I'd pick that anyway over the TC if I were a spouse, fiancée or GF/BF  :)   Get those banners ready!

I read somewhere that the Tiger Cruise is only for parents or friends of the sailor, not spouses or gfs /bfs. Is this true?

Thanks Cmyhero! We have been together almost 5 years, he has only been in the Navy officially a year. But this proposal has been a long time coming in my opinion. lol! It has been tough for us, especially when we couldn't talk for a week. We email often and that helps a lot. I am on FB and I did request the frg and ombudsman on there today.

Hello Everyone! I am new to the group. My sailor is attached to this ship and this is  his first deployment, mine as well. Its hard not knowing where he is and when he will be back, but I also think he enjoys not being able to tell me also. lol! He likes to surprise me. We are technically engaged, I hope to get my official proposal when he returns. Any advice for me will be helpful? And I want to send him a care package, but I have no clue what to send. Thanks for all your help!

Our group is growing, cool!  New members, be sure to check out the Ombudsman Team and FRG links above if you're not onboard with them already.
