Oh Trisha, sorry to hear, no fun :) I found that taking reusable freezer icepacks and putting them under my pillow at night got me through!

Welcome harbinger!  go to the Discussion above titled USS Iwo Jima Ombudsman & Family Readiness Group, you'll find website links and email addresses there.

Atsmyboi, it's pretty cool, isn't it?  :)  Trish, so glad to hear she likes the Medical Department - my son says that the A/C can get pretty icy there, wish I had the same at my house, this heat + humidity is getting to me!

I haven't been able to post from my Droid for a while, wonder what's up with that.....

This is my sailors first command and first deployment. I'm so excited for him! He's been gone since late March. Ive sent him 5 care packages and several letters. Mail is slow, but understandably so. I love hearing about his daily life, even though he can share only limited information. I'm EXTEMELY proud of my sailor.

Cool!  Trisha's daughter is a corpsman too and is joining the Iwo this week.  Trish, at least she'll get some good stories from this "adventure" .... hope she's doing ok.

Hey Tina, welcome to our Iwo Jima group!  What does your sailor do?

Comment by Marcy ~ Corpsman Mom on July 6, 2012 at 9:53am

Oh Trish, we can relate - there's comfort in knowing that she's off on an adventure of a lifetime, but it's still hard on moms.  I think care packages are as much for us and our sanity as for our sailors :)  Hang in there, and let us know when you hear from her!!
