My daughter is riding out the storm in her apartment, hoping it doesn't flood. She's done all she can do to prepare. Hoping for the best.
Lynne, I completely understand the "impatient son" scenario. Yes, for some reason, some people DO have an intolerance to people who don't behave the way they want them to. My oldest son comes to mind. Actually, ALL of my sons come to mind. LOL It's funny though, how they expect special concessions made for THEIR imperfections. Hmmmmmm
I'd like to say...."Aw Lynne, he's only 25, he'll learn....and grow out of it." Well, I hope that's true, but I know a whole lot of grown men (and women!), far older than your son who never have. LOL Let's just say I hope he never lets that anger get him in trouble. :-)
I actually worried a little bit in bootcamp and once in A school, because he was getting fed up with certain situations, but he made it through both of those and is shipbound now. I know it's not much help to our kids (at the time), but what can we really tell them? All I know to say to mine is, "Son, that is just the way it is in this life. I don't care what you do, where you go or who you share this planet with. You are NOT going to find perfect people there. Please remember to give everyone else the same consideration and patience as you would appreciate getting. Do NOT be any harder on anyone else than you want people to be on YOU! Do unto others as you would have others do unto YOU! Remember that golden rule and you'll do just fine!"
We did have a really good time with our son and he is now in VA. I know you are going to have a fabulous time with him in August. I wish I were going with you. I love the Atlantic coast. Poor guy though, you see, our weather was rarely above the mid 60s here on the west coast and he stepped off the plane to temps in the upper 80s-low 90s. LOL
Hang in there Lynne. I will keep your son in my prayers. Perhaps being bored, antsy and hot isn't helping his temperament. Hopefully, your visit with bolster his attitude. :-)
Lynne,
So much of the information I've received from this web site is information that even my son didn't really even know. LOL It's like sometimes they're only told what they're told, when they need to know it....and not a minute sooner. Perhaps it's because they have so many OTHER things that they need to learn. He's still home for now and is already getting a bit down in the dumps, knowing that his time with his family is nearing an end. He did speak to his sponsor though and did find out where they will be deploying to, once the ship is made ready. He's not terribly excited, but I'm excited for him. Of course, I'm going to hate being away from him, but I am excited for the adventure.
