Let your sailors know that on May 11, Gary Sinise is bringing his band to NTelos Pavilion in Portsmouth for a free concert, open only to DoD cardholders!  The Flagship is having a contest for four VIP tickets and a meet 'n' greet, too :)

"The New York is one of three ships that make up an amphibious ready group the Navy is moving from Virginia to Mayport.

The other two ships — the USS Iwo Jima and the USS Fort McHenry — are slated to arrive by early 2015. The three ships will bulk up the Navy’s fleet at Mayport, as the station’s frigates are retired."

Thanks Marcy, I am a member of the Norfolk group. My son has been in the navy for 3 years. 2 of those have been in Norfolk. He was deployed with the Enterprise most of last year. Reassigned since they are decommissioning it. He is looking forward to joining the Uss Iwo Jima.
