I finally got an email from my daughter on Thursday she said everything was down for two weeks.

In the last email I received, my son did tell me that the computer he usually uses had been secured every time he checked. I don't know if that means locked up or someone had already been using it but whatever the reason I haven't heard from him for a while. I see on the Makin Island web page that things are heating up there. At this point, I simply hope that he received my last couple of care package shipments and that they gave him a virtual hug. I'm keeping the whole crew and their families in my thoughts and prayers.

Often during deployments your sailors will not be able to communicate due to security reasons. I know it is hard and we all worry when the ship goes silent but know it is for everyone's safety. I have been through 5 deployments and the last one was with LHD 8. When my son was on the Makin Island there was an LHD8 stents group on Facebook and it was an additional source for support and information. Erhaps that group is still there.

I haven't heard anything since the 22d and it was brief. I look at the pictures on Fb but have only spotted my boy once. It's not for lack of scouring the photos though!

I'm not on this site too often anymore, but try to keep watch whenever someone else is posting.  Haven't heard from our son since Jan. 11th.  Glad to hear that you received emails up until last week.

Nov 17 she hasn't got them yet this is her Christmas box so I hope she gets it before Christmas LOL. She asked me to mail her some Christmas wrapping paper which I just mailed last week, I told her you may not have it by the 23 which is when she needs it.
The last boxes I mailed Oct. 15 and she didn't get them until the first week of Nov. so the Halloween box was a little late LOL. I'm in CA so could be why it takes so long who knows.
