Heard from him today...still not better...he goes back to see the doctor on Thursday.  Now the meds are making him dizzy and headaches are worse.  I know God is taking care of him.  I recently listened to a partial message on line and the minister used Jehovah Shalom which means The "Lord is Peace" from Judges 6:24. Thank you so much for continuing to pray and holding up my son in prayer.  I know that God... can do exceeding, abundantly , above ALL that we can ask or THINK accoding to the power that worketh in us.(Eph. 3:20) .  I an continuing to trust God.

I have not heard from him in about 3-4 days.  The last he was not any better and they are trying more meds. I keep praying for him that he will adjust to the ship. I keep encouraging him and telling him that I know he will be fine. He is not use to not feeling well he has always been quite healthy.  Again I think he is a bit frustrated.  I'm just worried about him but know that he is in God's hands.  Thank you so much for your concern and comforting words of encouragement.

***FROM THE MKI FRG**....a reminder that they will need to send us who their sailor/marine is (name/rate) and how they are related to them so we can get them verified. We have some who don't tell us and we aren't able to message them to ask because of security settings. Thanks :)....

My son finished booth camp Great Lakes,IL at the very end of October.  He was assigned to go to San Diego but ship had already left.  So end of December was sent to Singapore to meet up with ship. He has only been on the ship for one month.  He has been talking to the Chaplain.  He is undesignated as this was advice given to him by recruiter.  In civilain life worked in the hospital taking care of patients and he thought he would be able to continue in medical field in the navy.  Does not classify for medical job so is going to be applying for one of he few jobs left.  Thank you for your comments but again remain very concerned.  I will pass on comments about relaxation. He has never had any issues like this so the only person that he talks to is medical and the chaplin.  I'm told that sometimes it takes a month or longer to adjust to being on the ship. Thank you so much.

I am a Social Worker and I wish to share with you some ideas.  In terms of advocacy.  My son is aboard the ship and is a Chief.  He has been in for twenty years.  Further, I spent three days aboard the ship and understand how close the sleeping quarters and the tight spaces.  First off, it takes 30  days for the medicine to take effect and to get into his blood stream.  Second,  he needs to talk to his therapist regarding behavior modification therapy to help him relax.  Mediatation, listening to calm music, sleep medication might be considered as well.  Taking the medication without therapy is not effective.  Please feel free to email me as I suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and it is being managed by a combination of med, exercise, and therapy.  Also a lots of prayers.  I will continue to pray for you and your son.  I am posting Mental Health First Aid to help you help your son.

A ssess for harm, ask how your son is doing, check in, how can you help.

L istening non judgmentally.

G ive reassurrance.

E encourage him to seek professional help(therapist not a md)

E encourage him to seek social support! IE talk to Chaplain. Goggle mental health first aid!!!!excellent website. God Bless

Ms son's first deployment on the USS Makin Island.  Has had a headache since joining the ship in Singapore.  Now having what medical calls "panic attacks" has anyone else had this experience with their sailor.  Tried many medications but nothing seems to help and he is becoming very frustrated.
