Hi, my daughter was just assigned to the USS Makin Island.  She asked me to see if someone could tell me when it is scheduled to deploy.  Could you message me please, Scarlette?

Hello from Guam! I will be moving to San Diego in the coming months to be with my husband who has been stationed on the Makin Island! I am super excited! I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me about the moving process; as my husband has just been told today that the Navy will indeed pay for my plane ticket as well as ship our stuff for us (we thought this wouldn't be possible as he received his orders before we even got married). I am kind of hesitant about letting people pack our stuff for us, and would rather just pack and ship it on my own (just a bunch of tubs filled mostly with clothes and shoes) as I live with other family members who would probably be uncomfortable with hustle and bustle with strangers. Thanks in advance for any information you all may be able to give me :)

Hi, misslaura! I'm just home from helping my son get settled in his first apt without roommates. He's a little overwhelmed between that and getting to know the routine of a new ship. Overall he seems happy and definitely enjoying the work schedule. He was leaving for work by 5:00 to avoid traffic but home by 3:00 pm most days.
