Happy New Year to everyone.  My husband, daughter any myself had the pleasure of spending christmas with our son/brother.  He showed us around the ship.  I have to say the living quarters would be hard for me to handle, but I'm glad our son is doing well on the USS MI and has made wonderful friends, is currently taking college courses and  is just enjoying San Diego.

Good morning Makin Island family.  My son just joined the crew and is now aboard.  Any information would be greatly appriciated, I am new to having a sailor on ship.  Also any information about the area and safe areas to live would be greatly appriciated.  He is just newly married and waiting for housing allowance to go through so he can bring his wife to San Diego.

Has anyone stayed at the Navy Base San Diego Hotel?  We're visiting our son for christmas and wanted to get any information on it.

Thanks,

Donna

Hi. My son is currently in A School in Pensacola, FL.  He got his orders for the USS Makin Island in San Diego.  He's really excited (so am I) since he'll be close to home.  We live in the San Francisco bay area.  I'm so excited to be a part of this group and get to know the loved ones of the other sailors who are already on this ship.

Thanks for that shout out Sandra but actually you are incorrect.  The Ombuds and your sailor are the only one who can give out info on the tiger cruise.  Their email is makinislandombud@yahoo.com

Anyone have any info on this Tiger Cruise thing?
