My son Joseph has been on the USS McCampbell since January 2010.  He is coming home tomorrow for 2 weeks leave :-) and I am so excited!  It's been over a year since I've seen him face to face.  Skype…Continue

HiMy son Jon just joined the crew of the McCampbell three weeks ago.  Haven't heard from him but I see by some of your comments that it's hard for them to get e mail/texts/etc.  And probably to send…Continue

lol @ Susan...Sometimes we have to laugh to keep from crying right? I hear some talk (on the News) about voluntary evacuations.  Have any of you heard any news on this?

You are right Leslie, it is our job :-)

"No worries" is Josh's favorite response.  They have no idea how much we do worry about them especially when so much is out of our control.  It is our "job" and we do it well, don't we?

Heard from my Joseph as well :-) He said to stop worrying also lol and to not believe everything I hear on the news.

Received an email from my son and he says he and the others are fine.  He is happy to do whatever he can to help and said to stop worrying.  I am so full of pride for what they're doing and especially loved the "PS" email that said, I love you Momma!

Thanks for posting Heidi. Still waiting to hear from my Joseph.  It's been over 2 days now.  It does make me feel better to know that other McCampbell moms are starting to hear from the sailors though.  I know they are extremely busy and like you mentioned, I am also concerned about their state of mind dealing with all the death and destruction.  I am so glad that I have you guys to share my thoughts with :-) Will continue to pray for all our sailors and I know my Joseph will get in touch with me when he can.

I am with you Rainesgrand! I have not heard from my son since Friday night and only like for 1 minute! Like you I am also very worried about the radiation and would really like to know what they are doing. I think about the state of mind of these sailors if they are picking up dead bodies all day. I hear some people say they are getting text messages/e-mails and I know my son would if he could so I wonder what is going on! I am extremly worried.

Haven't heard from my Joseph today...last I heard from him was yesterday and they were going out to help with relief & rescue.  I'm a little worried about the nuclear/radiation problems...Does anyone have an update on that situation?  So proud of our McCampbell crew :-)

I check on the 7th Fleet website, "command" "news".  Articles posted almost every day and sometimes more about the activities of the 7th.  McCampbell often mentioned.
