Welcome firewife5!  Glad your Sailor will be joining the Murphy!  What is your sons rate? They keep the sailors busy with as much school and training as possible.  Our sailor has been able to go out on other ships a couple of times since he has been in SD, A step 30 years forward from the ship he was on for the past 4 years.  Great group of people in SD.

Hi everyone. My son just got his orders and it looks like this is his ship.:) He just finished A school and is headed to San Diego (nearby) for some classes (PCU classes I think) then off to Maine! I haven't seen him since his PIR and I just can't wait to hug that boy!

He may get to SD, if that is where he is headed, after T leaves for Maine!  T heard that they have some houses in Maine that single sailors share....for a hefty price!

Yankee's mom.....you are too nice!!!  Our Sailor is lucky to serving aboard the Murphy!   Glad CMC is there to keep our Sailors motivated and in line!  "T" said the attitude of the Murphy Command is so much different from the Crommelin.....he loves it.

Glad you got to visit the newlyweds Kathy!  I'm sure they are getting prepared to miss Hawaii as the winter approaches.  Our Sailor is hoping that he will miss most of the Maine winter.

Nancy - it would be awesome if the Murphy was adopted!

I was a Crommelin Mom for four years!  I hope that the conversation was good with CMC, he is a great guy and a terrific role model for all of our sailors.  I loved doing MAS for the Crommelin, I made a lot of cards and some care packages, it was awesome to be involved with it for my son's ship.

How long has your son been in the Navy?  What is his rate?  My son has been in the Navy for almost 4 1/2 years and is a BM2. He just reenlisted for 4 more years in April aboard the USS Missouri at Pearl Harbor.  Amazing experience!

We have been able to be at two of our Sailor's deployment homecomings, we missed one.  We have been to Hawaii four time in the past 4 years, love it there.

We are hopefully going to be on the pier when the USS Michael Murphy pulls into Hawaii next year.

Have a great weekend and fly your American Flag tomorrow!!

My son is one of those 40 shipmates!!  What a great surprise for your son.  He is going to love his new command.  When does he actually go to the Murphy Command?
