For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Yes, I believe that the like button on facebook does the trick. Once you like them, I think it shows up on your friends list, and when the ship posts anything, you will see it on your wall. I am fairly new to facebook, so I hope that I am not leading anyone astray. Anyway, there are some photos of Fathers Day celebration and they have a sailor of the day, I believe. There is also a family readiness group (frg). I have not been active with that. Maybe someone else could help if you are interested. There are instructions on how to make pillowcases on this site (search pillowcase instructions). I made eight and sent them to Preston. I thought they were a good idea, red, white and blue, with navy emblems on the front. I got the fabric online from Joann's with a coupon good for 50% off. Preston says that they are nice, and he has gotten one sailor to take one, so I am not sure how well they go over. I thought it would be a piece of home. I guess maybe a favorite sports team or theme for the pillowcase might be a better idea. If you think your son or daughter might like one, tell them to seek out Preston White. Another thing you should check out if you haven't already is facebook. You can add USS Nornandy (CG60) as a friend and get messages from the ship. Today they posted the port of call.

Those acronyms are a mouthful, and I'm sure your tape is wonderful. I can't carry a tune in a bucket. I did take an idea from the pillowcase lady and made eight pillowcases: red, white, and blue, with little USNavy emblems on one side. I sent them to my son to share with some of the sailors. I got a note back saying, "Thanks for the pillowcases. I can tell you put a lot of work into them. I got one person to take one. He says thanks!" What a diplomat! Maybe a tape of me singing would be better! LOL

I can't believe the acronyms don't have CINCLANTFLEET (Commander-In-Chief, Atlantic Fleet) or NAVSEASYSCOM (Naval Sea Systems Command). My dad was in the Navy for 37 years and we spoke "acronym-ese" at our house. I remember learning to tell time in kindergarten. The teacher asked me what time it was and I said "5 BELLS!

Wonder if homemade jelly will hold up? I got some fireweed jelly (native to Alaska and not at all hot! It's called "fireweed" because of it's flaming red color). Also, since I'm the sillyest looking thing on the planet I made a video of myself singing "The Middle" by Jimmy Eat World (everything, everything will be just fine, everything everything will be alright, alright!) to make my daughter laugh! If anyone else watches it, I'll probably die of embarassment! LOL!

Our son has called several times. He says there is a phone available, a 757 area code number that he must wait in line to use, with a ten minute limit. This phone is for outgoing calls only, so caller id does not help for return calls. Be watching for a 757 number. I am glad that there are some other families for the USS Normandy on here. Preston says the water onboard is not tasty at all, so they all appreciate the drink mix packets. Don't send chocolate, it will melt!

I saw a video today about life aboard ship. They look like they are stacked in dresser drawers! And I worried about having to get new furniture, getting the bathroom painted, buying a new guest bedroom set and playing Martha Stewart for a week! Of course, December isn't the greatest month to visit Alaska for the first time! But I guess every mom goes though this, when the child you once couldn't even see for all the junk in their room suddenly become a cross between Chef Ramsey and the Dyson Ball guy! And that cat will choose that particular moment to cough up a hairball! LOL!
