I am so sorry it took me so long to get back here, but I did email Amy about a heads up to look for 2 requests to join, she said to send the email with the info and she will look for it. I also gave her a link to here so she could follow the thread.

I just scrolled back and read some posts from a deployment from 2010. Very interesting, things I wish I would have read back then!! I am wondering how many of those folks are still on the OA. I received a couple rare emails that kicked in my mom worry machine, then a blank one and no communication. Had I read that thread first, I might have calmed down and simply counted to 1000, instead of the worried email I sent. She called yesterday and now I feel like I can breath! The thread I read pretty much describes the same thing she said about the long hard hours, the tensions of being cooped up with the same frustrations, no mail and contact from home and all the little things that go with deployments that make us all back home wish we could hear their voices, give and get a hug and see that smile. I never knew I could experience this kind of pride in not just my own sailor, but our fleet and what they represent to the world for us. My other daughter wrote the sailor a message of her pride that was so strong and deep, she was laughing about crying as she was trying to read it to me, she is so very proud of her 'little' sister. I wish my sister was still around. She spent 20 years in the Navy and I really didn't have a clear picture of all she went through until now. I would love to give her a big hug and thank her for her service as well!
Hope you all hear from the FRG soon and get added. The family at home support is wonderful and it is helpful to be a part of it when you miss your sailor!

I did that, but it must have been missed.  I resent everything and she added me this aft.  Thanks.

casb8 and jenismer:

When I joined the FRG, I emailed Amy Paris and asked her to add me to the group. The email address is: oscaraustin79frg@gmail.com. My message said,

"Hello! I would like to join the FRG group for my sailor, OS2-------. My name is ----- and my email address is ------. Please let me know if there is any other information that you need.
Thank you!"
I heard back from her that very day and I was added to the group. Maybe you ladies should try joining that way. :)

Jenismer the FRG is doing fundraising for a homecoming gathering, they have great ideas and super support system for the families of the deployed sailors. I feel more connected to my sailor now that I am in the FRG. Casb did you find the page and send a request? When you get on, scroll back on the posts and see all the great ideas

My sailor was in Japan for 3 years prior to moving to Norfolk.  We're hoping to be there when they come back.  Anyone have fun ideas/surprises for homecoming?
