Tina RH, as of yesterday my son is still in a hotel waiting to go the ship.  He's been there a week today.  If you don't have an international calling plan for his cell he won't be able to call except from the base and if he has to stay in the hotel can call from there.  My son got a calling card and the hotel still charged him, it was very expensive.  He gets on the internet but there is a 9 hr. difference and it's like 1 a.m. our time and he doesn't get on everyday.  I haven't talked to him since the weekend but he calls his girlfriend almost everyday and he's sent me a message over the internet.

Dawna......I am in Lake Geneva.. the southeast corner of Wisconsin right on the Illinois border ...not sure where Chilton is.   He has been in Great Lakes this entire time since BC, so he has been pretty close to home....He's had liberty the last two weekends and has been home, so that has been nice. In a way I'm glad he's getting out of "this neck of the woods"....something different.  I talked to him last night and he was waiting to hear when he would be joining the ship, but thought it would be sometime towards the end of this week... he said he was a little nervous but really "pumped"....My son is not good at communicating either...I gave him the third degree last night about contacting me every chance he gets. He has a cell phone and computer, but I'm sure they are going to be useless to him.

I'm glad that I heard about this website too. When he left for BC, we had no idea about anything, he isn't the best at giving out information.  I think I will be a lot more at ease when he gets to the ship.  I know he is tired of sitting around and wants to get going.  He said he had enjoyed everything and the places they stopped on the way there, until now.  He will be in the hotel a week tomorrow.

I agree with you Theresa.  I am so happy to be in this group.  Sometimes it's hard not knowing exactly where they are but I know they are safe and am happy my son  is on that ship.  The work is hard but my goodness, what a great experience they are enjoying.

I read about the Packers being on the ship.....(from Wisconsin so that was big news) they were there supporting them and visiting....Wish my son could have been there for that!!

My son posted some photos on facebook. The Green Bay Packers were on the ship. I don't know what they were doing there or how long they stayed. Does anyone else know?

Thanks Theresa, this is still new and all happened so fast I feel like we have been in a whirlwind this last week.  I just wish he was easier to talk to him while he's waiting.

Have we heard whether or not the ship has received the pillowcase banner yet?
