OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

Good Morning Ramage Moms (and Joan): Just a note to let the rest of you know Joan will be taking over admin duties for this group. I've enjoyed my time here but it's time to move on. Joan, under the picture of the Ramage is a heading "Links, pictures and other stuff". To the right is the 'Edit' button. Click on the 'Edit' button anytime you want to change anything in areas. You also have the 'power' to delete any/all discussions under the "Discussion forum" heading. AND you have the power to delete any/all comments that are posted!! lol I've never done anything in here except post the OPSEC stuff and try and keep the ombudsman and FRG email address current. That's all there is to it! :) Thanks again for agreeing to take this group, and when you're ready to move on you can turn it over also. :)

USS Ramage deploys

NORFOLK, Va. - The guided missile destroyer USS Ramage (DDG 61) deployed from Naval Station Norfolk to the Sixth Fleet area of operations on Tuesday.
Operating in the Mediterranean Sea for the next six months, officials say the Ramage is scheduled to work with international maritime forces to conduct Maritime Security Operations in the region.
The Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, commanded by Cmdr. Peter G. Galluch, is one of only three Atlantic-based ships equipped with the Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) system. The Navy says BMD will be a primary mission for the ship during this deployment.
"It's a growing capability that the Navy has, to shoot down ballistic missiles in flight," Galluch told WAVY News 10. "The missile defense capability of the United States, particularly on our ships, is unequaled."
The 505-foot long ship has a crew of about 270 sailors.
The Ramage, along with the USS Cole and USNS Laramie, returned from an eight-week deployment on November 19th of last year.

Michelle, thank you for the reminder! The first info I give to new Ramage family members is to register with the Ramage website and make sure your name and email address is added to the ombudsmans and FRG email list. If you look above in the 'Links, pictures and other stuff' box you'll see the Ramage website and the ombudsman's email. And since the FRG email change is just about complete now I'll add the new FRG email address!
My son reported to the Ramage a year ago while it was deployed in the Gulf. Thanks to the members in this group there were Sailors on the ship to welcome my son aboard and they even knew his name! I shared that story with our CO at homecoming and he was thrilled to know we have so much support.
Most ships have FRG/Ombudsman emails and many of those ships also have groups on NavyForMoms! It's a win/win for all of us. So much support for us moms!
