Haven't been on here much since PIR March 2013.  My son is a Nuke MM and was assigned to the Rhode Island in March 2015. Anybody else's son not loving shipyard?  I've met a few other nukes on this boat when I went to Norfolk. I like meeting my son's friends. The last two times he's been home he brought a sailor with him!

My son just got orders to Rhode Island Blue. I see this page isn't active. Anyone still here?

@Shirl your son will do just fine on his first deployment with RIB :) My husband has been on this boat for going on 4 yrs (with the navy almost 5) and he tells me all the time that their boat and crew (blue) is seriously one of the best.

My son will be going out on his first deployment soon, it is good to read all the comments even if they are a year ago. Looks like a small group. He has made good friends and likes kingsbay. It will be hard when he goes, we text everyday.

Hi, I'm a new mom to the blue crew.  This is my son's first time out.  Feel free to share helpful info you gained over the years!  Thanks.  My son is an MT

Thanks for your kind response.  We plan on making things special when he gets home as you said and will keep the emails up for boosting morale.  I pray he is doing well, being kept busy and stays safe and focused.  I also pray for strength for my daughter in law to keep building him up and stay strong in her life without him.  May God Bless the USS Rhode Island crew and entire US military!

My son is on the rhode Island Blue Crew and is on his first deployment.  Welcome any suggestions or advice on dealing with deployment.  His anniversary is tomorrow and his first baby was just born while away.  We are all doing ok just missing him..

It's been a while since I've been on N4M's; since BC!  My son is on the Blue Crew. Hoping to learn from those more experienced :-)  My son and his wife moved to GA the end of March.
