mamasan, I concur. Sometimes the email goes down on the ship, or the sailor is just too busy to get to the computer to send an email. I would go ahead and get a care package ready and send it as well. Valentines Day is around the corner, and seeing as it may take 4 weeks for him to receive anything, I would go ahead and get one ready now.  Dont' worry, he will get get in contact. I get random emails from my daughter at the weirdest times. I believe they are headed to warmer weather, so make sure that if you send any candy, put it in some Ziploc freezer bags, in case it melts.

Wow. There has been some great information. This is my son's second deployment and I didn't know half of what I need to know. I would to go out for the Tiger cruise. Someone said that we would get a packet sent home, but I didn't get one last deployment. Does my son need to do something?

I appreciate the details and helpful hints... time to shop for the valentine's care package! has all the communication with your sailors been via email? do you think it is okay timing to temporarily defer my son's i phone service?

We enjoyed visiting with our daughter over the holidays. Now, since she is deploying, I am getting the care packages rolling. She really enjoys the instant macaroni and cheese that I send her. Keeping all in my prayers

What is OPSEC?  Too many acronyms...lol.  So, the Tiger Cruise is just joining them on the final leg of the trip?  Where do you sleep?  lol...just curious.  Can it be an 16 or 18 y/o a brother?  Is it wife/parents only?  How do we know where to send the care packages.  My son bought TONS of stuff and then couldn't carry it onto the ship (not the most organized).  So, we'll be sending stuff.  I feel like I should know the answers to these questions already, but I don't.  I clearly have missed a few memos.
