My son is on his first deployment as well. We've gotten pretty accustomed to having him around. We live in Snohomish, just the next town over from Everett. He's an IT, but is doing is kitchen duty now. Low man on the totem pole...he's got that for two more months.

I appreciate this site and look forward to being a part of this community over the next many, many months.

Darlene, Thanks for the post. My son, the ship"s cook, has just embarked on his first deployment. We enjoyed time with him over the holidays and he spoke very positively about the crew. Even still, first deployment or last, it is still hard, eh?  I appreciate the experience, support and knowledge that you have for us loved ones at home. Can you tell me more about the email? i thought that it was pretty sketchy and unlikely to keep in touch so if thats not true I sure do feel awhole lot better about this.I look forward to bonding with others via this website. I am not sure whether he will be working with my son.  He is a HP03, I think.  Either way, welcome.

We settled into military housing in Marysville. Snohomish is really local.. that must be nice to be so close.

Kittythief2 - I feel for you. Not much time in between.
