Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Leeanna, Kyle went in under the pact seaman program because the job he wanted was not available at the time and he was ready to go. My husband and I have really been nervous about his choice, my husband was navy also. So as for what he will be doing job wise, pretty much whatever they tell him to for the first year and a half until he chooses a rate. He's 100% ok with his choice so I am getting use to that. Did your son take his laptop with him?

So there has been no theft of any of his stuff. Good to hear. He will look into finding Jerimiah. He sounds really good but it also sounds like this long deployment is getting to everyone...

Comment by Jerimiahs Mom on August 14, 2012 at 10:51pm: I gave my son the information and he said he had passed him on the ship, he's usually not much of a talker even to me!!! When I talked to him the morning before they went back out to sea he sounded a lot better.

It is sad that others have stuff stolen but like you said nice to know that no one is being singled out!

Comment by Maryellen on August 8, 2012 at 10:56pm: Ladies, For the longgest time my daughter was called Shorty, it is because she stands 5ft .5 in tall. That stopped one day when they asked for someone to go into a small area and no one would go but her. Now the respect is there from her shipmates. This crap goes on on everyship.

There is nothing wrong with being a Nerd, they are just like everyone else except they take the time to learn more and keep learning. My daughter is like that but instead of calling her a nerd we call her a sponge, she soaks up all the information that she can and never lets go of it. If there is anything else I can do or any more infromation you need just let me know.

And he has never been one to give in to peer pressure which is a good thing. He has told me they make fun of the way he dresses when he is in civvies. Says he doesn't care but I know he doesn't like not having anyone to talk to our do anything with during liberty.
