Annie, I tried o send you a message but you need to accept me as a friend first.
Annie, I didn't have to send anything as far as my travel to Hawaii goes. The Navy doesn't care how you get to Hawaii, you are a civilian. All they care about is that you submit your medical form and your Registration Form, which it sounds like you did. I suspect that your son wanted your travel info for his knowledge. lol The Navy isn't paying for the travel of anyone of the family members, so that is our responsibility. I am arriving in Hawaii on the 26th of Sept., the day before the ship arrives and already have booked my room for that night. Once the ship gets to Hawaii, we stay on the ship, so there is not a need for motel/hotel after that. Your son has to take your forms that you sent him, around for approval by the medical officer on the ship. Once that is received, he will get the okay for you to attend the Tiger Cruise. If you haven't heard anything and you emailed it to him, I would resend it to him again since the deadline is approaching. I tell him in the email that you are just concerned that you hadn't heard anything and wanted to be sure that he received it. My son will be calling me today, if you want to email me privately, his name, I can have my son check on it for you, but I'll need the info quickly, before he calls because I don't know when he'll call again. They are in port right now. I'll send you a message privately.
We are responsible for paying our own travel to Hawaii if we want to attend the Tiger Cruise. For those who have never been on one before, it's a great opportunity to see what our sons and daughters are doing onboard the ship, as well as experience every day ship life.
Hi everyone! I'm new to this group. My son is on the USS Stockdale. I'm also a retired disabled navy veteran myself. I plan on going on the Tiger Cruise and have received word today that my son received the okay for me medically and my paperwork was okay'd as well. Yeah! My flight is being booked as I speak. I already have my room booked for the night before the ship arrives in Hawaii. Who else is going? I'd love to touch base with you!
SailorMom59, I sent you a message - check your page. I hope what I sent helps or contact the ombudsman
