Hi Annie, we were just in SD 2 weeks ago. What a bee hive the wet side of the base is! Seems they refit, test and fix things constantly. But ever so often they go out on manuvers for a week or two at a time. He will love SD! weather! blue sky! sand! and the Stockdale is a great ship! My son's been on it since it was built in Bath. I hope it's a great experience for him.

He just graduated BC 2/3, and is scheduled to report 3/12. He is at GL for A school right now. He is excited to go to San Diego. Do they do may manuevers where they are away from port alot?

I believe they are scheduled to deploy July/August.  I don't know whether he can take leave in May.

I thought they were schedule for deployment in Feb. or March.  How long has your son been in the Navy?

My son is scheduled to report to the ship first part of March..does anyone know if they will be going on a deployment soon again? He wants to go to Disneyland in May, but doesn't know if he can..

Just talked to my Sailor today.  Things are fine.  I usually hear from him once a week.  Nothing when they are underway or deployed until they are in port.  How long has it been since you've talked to your Sailor?  Can he email you?

Thanks Colleen!  I haven't heard much except for one time since they have come into port.  Have you heard much?

Welcome aatlmom!  I haven't been out to see my Sailor in SD, so I can't help you.   But I know some others have been there so maybe they could help.

I am new to this site.  My son is on the Stockdale since about July.  Do you all have any info about San Diego and going out to see our sons/daughters?
Comment by vita3 on June 30, 2011 at 9:35pm

Thanks for the info everyone.  He was going to meet the ship a few months ago, then they decided not to send him yet.  So he got married a few weeks ago.  Now he's going to meet the ship for the remaining time. I guess this is normal military life?
