Nothing has really been planned so far, as things could still be changed. Keep your eyes on those pages though and that's where you'll see information when it is released. Not too much longer now!

I have not seen any info regarding the family gathering the night before.  I check the Truxtun FRG page and the Truxtun Ombudsman page on Facebook.  We plan on flying in from California the day before so that we can make the gathering.

Lynleybr-glad to hear your son is happy on the Truxtun!

Hi! Welcome to the Truxtun! Are you on facebook at all? Truxtun FRG Follow that link to the FRG page for the ship, and if you email them at truxtunfrg@gmail.com they will get you on the mailing list. There is also a facebook 'like' page that has some nice photos on it.

My new Ensign (son) just arrived aboard the Truxtun yesterday.  I got a brief message. "made it safe, the guys in my division are great". Today I got a text message from his fiance giving the homecoming date.  Can someone direct me to the source of the information for the location of the family gathering the night before?  We def. want to be there for the homecoming.  Thanks!!!!

We have a room reservation at the Best Western on Ocean View Avenue.  Is that near the base?  Got a great rate for a family room (mom, dad, sister, and grandma) are all gonna be there!  We are hoping to spend two days in Washington DC since it is a long flight for us to even get to the East Coast.  Any recommendations regarding some place near DC and hotel for two nights?  So hoping our son will be able to come with us.

Hi DebBon.  I know...lots of questions for us newbies!  I heard there will be a family party the night before homecoming and we will get passes and information there.  I hope I am correct with this information!  I have no idea how to get to the base eiither.  Are you on the USS Truxtun Facebook page?   They don't give specific information, but there are pictures and things like that.

Ok question, this is the first deployment for my sailor and we would like to be there for the homecoming but how do we find out where to go we have never been to Norfolk before and when I look on the map there are several areas that say Naval base.  Also does anyone know if there is a Holiday Inn property near the base because I have reward points that I can use for my stay and would like to save on an expense.  Virginia Beach looks like they have a Holiday Inn property but how far is that from where we would need to be?  Also how do you know what time they come in?  Oh so many questions????
