While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.

In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

HISTORY
Although the first ship to carry the name Whidbey Island, there was at one time a ship on Navy rolls named USS Whidbey (AG-141), a small transport purchased from the U. S. Army and servicing U. S. Trust Territories in the late 1940s.
Whidbey Island, the first ship in a class designed specifically to interface with the Landing Craft Air Cushion (LCAC), assisted in the operational and developmental testing of the amphibious assault craft from July to September 1985 and again in May and July 1986.

Hello everyone,
My son was jus deployed for his first time and is on the USS Whidbey Island. I would like to send him a package for the holidays and his birthday, does anyone have any ideas what I should sent and also how long it might take to get there? thanks!

My sailor girl recieved her packages, yeah!! She said it was like Christmas in her shop, boxes everywhere, candy being passed around. Oh yes, Nerf guns being played with, can't forget those ;) I just loved the picture of that. Happy Mother's Day everyone!

yeah!! Whidbey Island got a mail drop. Best Mothers Day gift ever to hear my Sailor Girl got 2 of the 4 boxes we sent so far. Said as she was writing the email her smiling face was stuffed with cookies :) Although mine was not stuffed with cookies - I was smiling too! Happy Mothers Day everyone.

Hope all is well with you ladies... My son's birthday is in 2 days, and once again I can't talk to him. Between the 2 boys it has been quite a few of those in these recent years. Happy birthday to my son.

I "talk" to my son via email on facebook. Of course he really doesn't say much, so secretive for a kid who could never keep a secret from me. I too am curious if they have received any mail. Will let you know what I hear.

So, my daughter did not give me a mailing address for a care package, where do I mail it to, and how do I get on the Ombudmans email list. I feel out of touch with all this.
