Greetings all. My son was born and raised in Va. Beach. He enlisted six months after graduating high school. He's been in the Navy four years. Currently, he is a PO2 Nuke ET SPU in Ballston Spa. 11/12/09 he was picked up for STA-21 pilot select. Next Fall he will be attending college.

Posted a great article about Virginia Blue Star Moms and the Fisher House in Richmond that I thought you might enjoy. Hats off to all the families that are able to support this mission.

Hey y'all - we had a great time over Thanksgiving. Dan brought 3 other Sailors home with him for the holiday - one from New Hampshire, one from Hawaii and one from Seattle. I think they enjoyed the two turkeys, 5 or 6 pies and all the trimmings. Had a total of 15 people here - great time.

Hey, gang. My wife and I are having a house full for Thanksgiving; some friends from up north and all 3 of our kids...PLUS a bonus: Dan is bringing home a couple extra Sailors for the holiday weekend cause they can't get home to be with their own families. So...we'll let 'em borrow ours. Lots of turkey and trimmings are gonna bite the dust in our house next week. Glen

If any of you have your kids heading up to Saratoga NY (I believe that's where prototype school is for subs) and you want info on that area, feel free to get in touch with my wife or me. We spent 12 years there and just moved to VA last year.

Hi all,

I haven't been on here in a long time! I've missed being here, but have been really busy. I am now the Senior Adult Pastor and Pastoral Care Director at our church which keeps me going.

My daughter and her husband have made Yvonne and me new grandparents for the first time - a grandson who they named Jacob Benjamin. Fortunately they live about half an hour from us so Yvonne makes sure we go up to see him every week.

Our ministry to the military also continues every weekend in Virginia Beach. We're actually waiting for some of our sailors to come over this evening. Praise God, isn't life fun! :)

And, oh, by the way, we are also babysitting a green parrot for a neighbor friend of ours. What a hoot that is! If we walk out of the room he says "Come here." We're trying to teach him how to say "praise the Lord." If we walk out of the room he will sqwak litke crazy! Yvonne will put the towel over his cage and you hear this little voice say "oh oh." Then, as we walk away he'll say in a tiny voice "Heeelp. Heeelp." Then he quiets right down.

I'm inspired by the Wagners....We live in Charlottesville and just decided that if Danny is able to get home (from Portsmouth/Norfolk) for Thanksgiving we're going to tell him to invite a buddy or two who aren't able to spend the holiday with their families. How awesome would that be....Danny was in boot camp over Christmas but very close to PIR so they let his division go to Ravenswood Pub in Chicago for the day. We appreciated that SO much that day when he called us for only the second time in boot camp....

Jody, thank you so much for extending such a kind invitation to our daughter. Currently, we are in a holding pattern as she leaves in 19 day for GreatLakes. If we have extimated it correctly, we will end up going to PIR either the week of or the week following Thanksgiving. I have 3 weeks off during the Christmas holidays and plan on driving her car out from California with her Dad. Aubree is an outgoing ( somewhat assertive) 22 year old with a sense of adventure, so I'm sure she will do a great deal of exploring while on the East coast. Thank you again for opening up your home. JackieM,

Hi! Looks like the weather has been covered pretty well. I'd like to extend an invitation to your daughter to participate in our weekend activities when she gets here, if she is interested. Yvonne and I open our home to servicemen and women on Saturday evenings and Sunday afternoons as a "home away from home". We play games and eat together on Saturday evenings and then have a big home cooked meal on Sunday afternoons. Life on Dam Neck can get pretty stressful and pretty boring at times. So if your daughter is interested I'd be happy to send you our contact info. Check out our profile page on here to see some pics of what we do.

God bless

John Wagner

Ladies you have been so helpful and both my daughter and I appreciate it greatly. She does have a car and we had plans to drive it out to her when allowed. Since she will be coming from CA she has no experience with driving in snow conditions so that was part of our concern. Although at 22 she is a more experienced driver than say an 18 year old, as we don't have snow and ice conditions, she will have to adjust. At least she will know what to expect. Thank you for the great discription of your state Linda and your added information Judy. We look forward to visiting in the future. JackieM(Aub'smom)
