Yes, he will receive them in A-school. It is possible to get married in A-school once he phases up and earns liberty. However, he needs to request special permission and might have to receive some counseling from the chaplin. If he is granted permission to get married in A-school, don't count on him being able to come home for a big white wedding. It might just have to be a court house wedding.

he is going in as a Machinest Mate....I know after boot camp he is going to CT. But we would like to married on Nov 11th. So he would only be there less then two weeks.

Is there a cut off for dependents? I know once we get married our son and i will be come dependents...but what about my son from another relationship? i know that step-children get benfits...but im just not sure how all this works.

The best thing to do is to talk to the father. A step child in the military, even without adoption, will receive full health benefits. You two might be able to work out some type of joint custody arrangement, and make it legal through the court, and you could share the child different parts of the year. I would definitely seek court ordered support, you and he can negotiate what is fair.
That was how hubby's joint custody was supposed to work, but his ex kept him from his son.
You can move to where your sailor is in the US, but there are reasons to marry before he gets his orders, he mat be sent where you cannot follow otherwise.

im not sure if he has ever thought of adopting him my real concern is that the father is not going to give me full custody and I really want to move with my boyfriend when he goes to his duty station. I guess we will see what happens, otherwise i will stay put where i am at until he is done with the service i guess. Im not sure what my options are here. My son's father is not by any means a dead beat dad and i always wanted to keep them together....but now the Navy has come into my life..... i think i know what my answer is I just don't like it.

Corpsmans - I am not sure how the Navy would apply your son as a dependent of your fiance's? Hmm.. Has he ever thought of adopting him? Keep me updated on your upcoming wedding, though! I am also thinking of getting married while my boyfriend is on leave. :)

mommie - If your boyfriend goes September 1st, he will graduate October 28th (I'm 90% sure). The Navy highly DIScourages couples getting married in GL after PIR. You only have a day or weekend with your sailor if you're lucky. You should wait until he is in A school. Do you know where he is going/what for?

My boyfiriend leaves Sept.1 for boot camp. We would like to get married in Nov. if he is done by then. How and can we get married between boot and A school? If not between them while he is in A school?

okay everyone, here is my story. I need lots of help! lol My boyfriend just graduated on 5/20 hes now in A school in S.A., TX. we are wanting to get married after his A school is finished in Sept.when he has leave to come home. My dillema is I have a son from a previous relationship(never married) and im not sure how that is going to affect us getting married. I have no established child support agreement nor a custody agreement with the court system. is this/how will this affect us wanting to get married??

@annamichael Yes, I did just recently 5-4-11.

Has anyone ever gotten married while their sailor was on leave between A and C school? My boyfriend is in P'Cola for A school and will have leave after he graduates in September for two weeks. Then he will go back there for C school.
