Attention please Never ever use BBG Communications (Luxemburg) while traveling internationally this company is a rip off... more importantly don't use your debit/credit card to pay for it they charge like $50 a minute!! I'm not kidding on top of that they charge you several times even if you made one call. This company is found at airport on pay phones.

yes good ideas ladies, thanks! I never thought of a Nex card. you all are right, we will collect that stuff anyway so might as well. :) We wont have much to move right now anyway since we are just starting out and only had a small apartment.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions!  I am leaning towards registering for things that we know we will need, (and for those who don't want to give $ or a giftcard....and want to go the traditional route) and let the family use the good ole' word of mouth trick to suggest cash, giftcards, and most definitely...a NEX card.  :-)  (awesome suggestion...thank you!)

Ladies....Just register for what you really want or need, most stores allow you to list gift cards also on your wish list.

Ok, I am going to be the old mom here and mention that it is really not proper to send a note with you annoucement telling people where you are registered.

If your guest calls and ask you/your parents/future in laws, it ok for them to tell the caller that you could better use a gift card.

Ok I am off my soap box.

My advice as a recent bride who PCSed shortly after her wedding: Register for what YOU want! You only get married (ideally) once. Enjoy it! Go to the store, grab that register gun, and register what you want for your new home with your new husband. And besides, even if you don't register for those little knick-knacks, you're going to get them anyways. Why? Because not all of your guests can afford to buy you china, pots and pans, and small appliances. So be prepared. Enjoy your wedding planning and showers, and worry about how you're going to get your stuff to the duty station later. My mom made a trip to our new duty station to drop things off we couldn't fit in the car. So that's always an option as well.

I know people don't like to ask for or be asked for money, but I would send a note in your announcements/invitations to please send gift cards because you don't know what you will need in the future after your move.  Most family members will understand you can't move a lot of stuff right away.  You can list which stores would be best, and they can send NEX cards directly to your sailor as gifts.

so true, amberrose. I hadn't even thought of that! Im glad you brought that up since we are going to do ours sometime this week.

i am!  :-D

my current dilemma is how to approach a registry because every day nick-nacks that couples usually ask for equals another box to ship.

I have about 3 months left and am getting so excited...and stressed!! lol
