Hi All,
Just found this group. Our son will PIR 9/7 - He is in Div 943 playing the trumpet in the band. He left on 7-10. We were lucky enough to get a phone call from him on Friday 8-3. We got to talk to him for 17 minutes! His Mom and I were both so excited!!!

Navyweek Coming to Milwaukee starting the 2nd week of August!! Lots of happenings along with the Air Show at the Lakefront. Check out the website.
A blessed Wisconsin afternoon to all the Navy Moms out there. I got to spend a very restful week in the north woods in the Minoqua area and waved to all of you on my drive back--you saw me, didn't you? I hope everyone is well and I pray for the safety of our brave men and women every day.
My sailor was in a 900 division. They are the performing division; although, not everyone in the 900 division has a music background. I was told that a high ASVAB score will get you into the 900 division. I am not sure about that. So, besides doing all the boot camp stuff, they also have to learn routines to perfom at the two PIR ceremonies before them. Every third division is what they call a staff division. That is what my sailor was in. During his PIR, instead of marching in the ceremony, his group (all males) had various jobs to do. My son's job was to give some officer his sword (I think the fancy name is Cutless). Some of the other guys had to hold doors or get coffee for the officers. Some were "body snatchers." Their job was to make sure noone looked like they were going to pass out. If they did they had to get the sailor to safety. For us, the kind of sad part was that we didn't get to see our son until well after the ceremony. Many of the challenge programs, such as seals, get put into the 800 division. Other than that, the sailors are put randomly into divisions.
Hi,
Can anyone tell where I find info on what the different divisions mean? Sounds like div 900 is a really big deal but I cant find info telling me whats what. My son is ship 09 div 288 with PIR on Sept 07, 2012
