It's better around here today, but  I just talked to my folks in Door County....there was soot on the car ?! It's great that you're missing this, LuvMySailor!

Funny how I didn't know anything about the wildfires and I am quite a bit north of Milwaukee near Crivitz/Marinette. I see and smell nothing. Crazy!

Jen, I'm going to check my globe for what body of water he said they were in.  Did your son go ashore in Malaysia?  They are on the same ship.  I know what you mean when you say throwing it up to a higher power sometimes!  Hope things are ok, pm me if you need to vent or talk :)

We are suppose to have high of 56 tomorrow :(

Hey there everyone!  anyone else experiencing all this smoke and haze??  Wildfires in MN and you can smell it in Milwaukee??!! Weird.

Happy Birthday, Kris...What a great birthday present!

Welcome to all the new members, congratulations on the PIR!  hopefully some of you can make it to the M&G in October.  Don't know if I'm any great company the way I was whining here the other day..haha.  I'm all better now, even if Nick hasn't answered a text or call in a couple of weeks.

I was feeling pretty blue on Sunday after reading all the 9-11 articles in the paper...just wanted to wrap my kids up in my arms and tell them how precious they've been to me---but no one home and no one was answering a phone.  I guess it just got the best of me that day. I so, so appreciate the kind words you've all given my and I feel truly blessed to have found this site.

Nick has been in about a year and is a Seabee, right now stationed in Gulfport, MS....they spend a year in home port and then 8-10 months deployed, so they're preparing for that now.  He probably will never be on a ship. ...totally cool with him. He did get to come home the beginning of July...  and that was really nice.  Hopefully another visit before deployment---maybe me down to him this time.

I hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful fall day in Wisconsin.

~Linda

Hello everyone!  Sorry I haven't been here in awhile, with fall and school starting now, been busy, I usually jump on fb before here and then... well, time flies.  :-)  mom2nw: love you lady!  It'll be ok!  Am I getting my brain all mixed up or did you just get to see your Sailor?  Maybe that was Lisa - aye aye aye.

My Sailor has been able to communicate a bit lately, seems to get enough computer time - last week was a major blow, got some information that was really hard to digest - another lesson in giving it up to God.  Even us NavyMoms need someone to draw our strenght from and it just plain sucks when our babies (oops, sorry - grown men and women - ie: Sailors) are hurting and we cannot do anything about it. Thank God that He has plans we cannot fathom, and that He is always here for us and our Sailors!    Yeah - that old thought came into my head again, "Gee mom, it's the MILITAY, what were you expecting??"   Anyhow - you ever have a situation come about in such a way that you cannot deny it was just a "God thing" the way it all fit together?  Yeah, we had that this week.   An unfortunate and tragic event, but definitely saw God's hand in the reveal... anyhoo - now I'm babbling, lol.

Kris - my Sailor was under the belief that they were headed in a different direction, I believe we're on the same ship - who knows eh?  At the discretion of the President, so changing mid-course has happened before!

Welcome LoveMySailor & Brit'sMom!   Thanks for the virtual ear ladies, hope to chat more soon!  Love - Jen

Greetings my friends!  Hope everyone is holding up well & or hearing from your sailors.  Fall in WI is a beautiful time.  I hope you have a good turnout for the picnic, Linda is wonderful company :).  Maybe if we start planning something now for a statewide M&G we can make it happen!   I have been a couple of emails a week now - he answers mine.  Actually I started numbering them so I know what he is responding too.  They have limited computers & they are allowed only so much time on them.  He doesnt have the internet for his laptop on ship.  Sometimes they shut down all communications so they cant use phones or computers.  They were not able to go ashore in Manila bcuz of the Typhoon but they did just spend 4 days in Malaysia.  I believe they are now on the way to Japan.  We did setup a time to talk on the computer yesterday morn.  He is 12 hrs ahead of us so he said he was able to watch the Packer game, he just watched Friday morning instead of Thursday night. :)

Tomorrow is my birthday so I am hoping for a call.  They do have international phone cards but they are very expensive & charge like $.40 a minute.  He is very glad he didnt get assigned a sub (thats what he signed up for) he said it gets very tedious on the boat.  He is a Nuke & so they are kind of forgotten on the ship.

Welcome to all the new moms, this is a great reference & also understanding shoulders to cry on!  Don't forget to check out all the different groups, its amazing all the different ones.  Also ou might find one for your sailors ship, base, specialty, etc.

I have met some wonderful moms'.  We are having a picnic the 2nd of Oct. and hope that you can make it?  I have a daughter in the Navy, she is Virginia.  Where is your son going for his schooling and what is he going to be doing?  I look forward to chatting with you again.  Take care...Kim
