Hello Everyone,

I'm new here.  I hope everyone had a nice holiday season. My sailor is stationed in Yokosuka, Japan. I'm planing to send him a care package and  I would appreciate if someone could tell me what is the best and cheapest way to do this. I would also like to know what I can and can't mail to him.

Thanks in advance,

Laura

I would love a warm toilet seat - don't need the music, I make my own. LOL

This might be helpful:  think of how much you are exercising and using your thigh/calf muscles when using the other toilets - then get out quick. :)

My youngest son has just returned home from his visit to Yokosuka with his brother. They had an awesome time together, but he too was called into work. My sailor thoroughly enjoyed seeing him and spending the much needed "guys time" together. I was told it is very expensive and that a Big Mac Meal at McD's is double our price.  WOW

Blondie - I love reading your posts - keep them coming!  So glad you are able to spend time w/your sailor and do so much sight seeing.  I know you are enjoying every moment.

I'm from the East Coast - the weather was horrible (snow/winds) and closed all airports as they got two feet of snow.   Trying to get back to normal today.

Sara, hang in there.  It can indeed be a "blue" time when missing our kids, so far away.  SO glad you got to skype with him, what a wonderful tool that is!  Have a blessed Christmas, you as well as MANY others will be in my thoughts and prayers today.

Yesterday I was feeling lower than low.  But today is a new day.  Today I got the best Christmas gift I have ever received.  My son called and told me to turn on my computer.  Then he called on Skype and I got to see him.  I felt like I could almost reach through the screen and hug him.  It was so wonderful.  We talked for over an hour.  He looked so tired (it was 2am in Japan).  I told him how considerate it was of him to call during our daytime.  He said he had made quite a few calls to the family and his friends but saved me for last so we wouldn't feel rushed.  I told him I thought his getting up in the middle of the night to call everyone was very considerate of him.  He looked good, tired, but good.  It was a really great gift.  Wow, what a difference a day makes.  I still miss him terribly but it was like getting a life line.  Merry Christmas Everybody.

Honeybee, Thanks for the kind words.  I'm taking your advice and using the days off work to get some cleaning done.  He told me he'd be home next year so I'll  just keep busy this year.

I haven't been on in a long time.  Spoke to my sailor last Friday.  He called at 4:30 am and said he might not be able to call for awhile.  He's my only child and I'm divorced.  This is his first Christmas away from home.  Even when he was in college he was always home on Christmas.   Needless to say I'm feeling pretty low and lonely.  I'm happy to see some of you are going to be able to see your sailors soon.  When you hug them please give them a little extra hug for those of us that are missing ours.  Merry Christmas to all.

shortymom....I just went to Yokosuka last month.  The #1 thing that I did not do, that I wished I had, was to talk to my cell phone carrier about how my phone would work over there.  I used it for a total of 22 minutes, and had a $170.00 phone bill. OUCH!!  My sailor has 2 cell phones and I used one of hers almost the whole time. Can't imagine what it would have been otherwise.  I do know that you can rent cell phones by the week while there, which is something I might look into the next time we go.

Blondie......I bet you can hardly stand the anticipation!!  What a wonderful Christmas for you and your sailor to look forward to!!  Just don't freeze to death in the next week!! :-)  :-)
