Kathy, is your daughter newly assigned to Groton? Does she have a sponsor she can contact? I know that both times my son reported to a new base, an on-duty driver was available to pick him up from the airport.

Nita, I was just being silly. We had a snow storm in October, then winter went on hold. We still haven't had any snow (except a flurry or two) since then!

I'm a Texas navy mom trying to get info. My daughter will be flying into providence rhode island on Tuesday and I've been trying to find wys to get her to the base in Groton Connecticut besides a $125 cab ride.

Valtimeri.. that picture was taken in October when I was visiting my sister in Groton. The house is still being  built.. The one that's in front  of it and that  is not in the  picture  is one that we cleaned

Hi Everyone, haven't been on in too long.  I guess time's gotten away from me.  Cute house Nita.  I love the beach.

Hi everyone, nice to hear from you.

I was wondering about that picture, Nita. Was that right before the snow storm?

Comment by NitaSewBee on January 2, 2012 at 10:54pm

This picture I took in Noanck while I was helping my sister  clean this guys  house.. The house you see here  is one he is building.. The house behind  it is the one  we cleaned.. Everything is white inside except the one couch and the stainless steel stove and refrig in the kitchen.. Its a very  lovely house

I wanted to take a picture  of the water and the boats.. but the battery went dead.  We cleaned this house the thursday that I was in CT October 2011

Happy New Year eveyone!  It has been a very busy time for me between Christmas and New Year.  I've missed my deployed son soooo much.  And, now with Iran flexing their muscles and testing their mid-range rockets, my anxiety levels have risen quite a bit.  I also got a letter, finally, from my "adopted" son in A'stan.  We usually correspond every day, but it had been 3 days and I was wondering what was happening.  2 Marines were killed at FOB Leatherneck & so access to the computer was shut down.  But he made the comment that "at least we made a good showing against the insurgency!"  Why is it that the news just doesn't want to cover what is going on over there; or, for that matter, what Iran is up to??  I think the unknown is worse than knowing ... notice I did use the word "think"!

Hope all is well with your sailors.  Please keep the 5th Fleet and the land-based sailors and marines in your thoughts and prayers.  It sounds like Iran is up to no good.  Thank you.
