Helen, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. I lost my Dad last year, he was 86 & died a painful death from pancreatic cancer. So while his death was a blessing it still hurts. I think sometimes when our parents get up there in years we don't think about it but we sort of expect that they will live forever. You are in my thoughts and prayers.
I would love to meet you & I'm always up for a road trip. I live in Plainville, MA which is only one town over from the RI border. We travel to upstate NY often to visit our son, DIL, and baby granddaughter - CT would be nothing. Would you allow a mom from another state in??
Sounds like lots of moving around of everyone's children. I'm trying to learn names (yours & your child's) which is why I'm so quiet. My son left on 10/31 on a deployment to the Persian Gulf area. Not allowed to say anymore than that.
Good night new friends!
I live on the coast, but West Hartford area is fine.
Thank you. Yes, Dad had been in failing health. He was a WWII Navy vet, 90 years old!
So you can see I *really* need a get-together now!
Hi CT,
My son was in VA for temp duty and school, now he's heading to Lemoore to meet up with his squadron. He is with us for a bit longer because my father died yesterday, so he was able to get his leave extended so he can attend the funeral.
I should have also said that right now, either date looks good.
Sounds like FUN, Donna. My son will be on deployment soon, so I'm sure I could use some Navy Mom fellowship.
Hi Flyers,
My son should be able to come home on leave soon, before going to his new duty station. I say should, because I have no details and I haven't heard from him in a few days, so I guess it's still on and he will call me when he needs a ride from the airport. :)
I'm sorry your son is feeling lonely and down.
