Anyone here mind sharing stories on how they found out their Corpsman return date? Did the date change often?  Did anyone go to the homecoming? How long was their leave and how long did theory have to stay at base before they could begin leave?

Hello everyone.

New to group but been around N4M for awhile. TNM sent me this way!!!!  :-)   My son is currently deployed and I have no idea where. I do get a 10 minute phone call every 2/3 weeks which I love!!! He is doing well and learning much. He is working on his FMF pin as well in between working. No days off make it hard but he said he is moving along. I do agree with you all about noone understanding , but if I talk to a Marine their eyes light up!!!!   So nice to connect w/moms who are in the same boat. A deployment is hard

Thank you for letting me know about the Navy jewelry company link I posted! earlier.  I'm deleting my prior post now, with apologies to all.  It came from a Facebook group of current and past FMF corpsmen I was invited into, and I'll let them know as well.  I thought the silver ring at $350 or so was comparable to school rings (which are a ripoff IMHO but that's another subject!) so not too out of line, but yes, who knows what you're getting when dealing with online companies, you're quite right.

WARNING!! I sent the link to the jewelry site to my son (cool ring pic posted below), commenting that I liked the designs but thought the pricing was a bit off and he shared the following:

Tell them (that would be N4Ms) to beware of these folks.  Several companies like theirs were investigated by the Navy Times for gouging practices.  The jewelry they have is often not the quality as advertised and imported from China.  They also engage in less than savory financial practices and when they come under scrutiny will often close and reopen under a different name.  The NEX has ceased all contracts short and long term with this type of vendor...

Hope the info helps . . .

USS PELELIU – Corpsman up! Many Marines do not realize the hard work their unit’s corpsmen put in day in and day out. Three sailors with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit were recently recognized for their superior achievement over the past year as hospital corpsmen.

Navyformoms has been so helpful for those going through deployments.  In the other groups, Texasdocmom, Ruthella and mikesmom to name but three are moms who have been through multiple deployments each and are a great resource.  Speaking of deployments, the USS Kearsarge FRG is doing a fundraiser - $20 for each "Deployment Survival Cup" - check it out :)
